Get creative!! I am on the hunt for the most refreshing drink possible. Give me some combinations or a simple description of a drink you find life changing, esepcially when you are dehydrated or simply have got the thirst bad.
Here is a simple starter:
*Ice cold water with ice cubes!!
*Chilled fresh orange with lemonade!!
*Chilled chocolate milkshake!!
*Mango juice
It is my intention to make asm any of these drinks as possible!! Get drinking!!
I must say that I find whiskey with ice to be very refreshing. Incidentally, I got my exam result for Film History and I got 79…
I kick ass!
I’ve always found iced water with ice to be a bit of a mishit as regards the quality of refreshment. I prefer ice cold apple juice or blackcurrant juice…
I once read a book when I was a kid called The Search for Delicious. The idea was that this king sent a bunch of people out to find the most delicious thing in the whole world. Everyone failed and the last guy was exhausted and stumbling home on a very hot day. Someone gave him a drink of water and then he realized that delicious was a cool drink of water on a hot summer’s day.
I always liked that story and generally agree with it. When it’s hot and I’m getting thirsty a cool drink is like magic. However, a nice glass of whiskey can have its own special effects.
Give us a better definition. I’m with Adlerian. Nothing is more refreshing that a glass of cool water on a hot summer afternoon, but that is slaking thirst. Are you asking about thirst or taste? Seems that they may be two different issues…
If I’m slaking taste, a nice Pilsner has its’ merits…
At different tournaments and stuff… we’ve been offered every drink under the sun, when you come off the floor thirsty as hell… all I ever seem to want is water.
I’ve been told (unconfirmed) that really cold water can’t be absorbed as quickly as body-temperature water (or a little lower) and as such it doesn’t quench thirst as quickly. Your experience (and my own) would seem to bear that out.
Really, a drink that has a little salt in it is best when you are dehydrated. That helps you return electrolytes so that you don’t get sick. You can actually have a seizure or feel drunk from drinking too much water. That’s why athletes use sports drinks.
Anyway, a cool DRINK on a hot day, or time, is quite nice.
I loved this. He is SO right. In the scheme of our sustenance of life, words are nothing but a mirage…
I hate to say it, but when I am thirsty, (really thirsty) there is absolutely nothing like a very, very icey-cold beer. Actually, I know I should drink more water… like I should floss, do yoga, refrain from smoking and cursing like a drunken sailor. Take vitamins, exercise, drink booze more moderately… get a yearly mammogram. You know. On and on and on.
I don’t know, but a very large piece of cherry pie a la mode sounds awfully nice right about now. Maybe two. It won’t ever quench my thirst… then again… indulgence can be a very good thing on an off-night, eh?
In my younger days I used to take part in a series of 10k fun runs. At the end of the race everyone got a banana and I found this to be a good thirst quencher.
A bananna… I’m guessing, but it sounds like quenching a thirst of potassium depletion…
Colisign, How about the notion that there may be different refreshing drinks depending on the specific thirst? I know it complicates things, but there seems to be more than one definition of ‘thirst’.
