The new oppressive social aristocracy

In a world ruled by specialists where specialists retain most of the wealth in every nation wouldn’t that make specialists and intellectuals the new oppressive social aristocracy in this era where everybody else who fits the title of laborers become the oppressed that are deemed to be worth much less?

Yes.

But it gets worse. Specialization for labor (blue-collar) ultimately leads to a job so specialized that anyone can do it! That is the point behind the assembly line. Naturally, these jobs are shipped off to the nastiest countries where they can be done most cheaply.

White collar jobs, on the other hand, have avoided autonomization. Sure, we have computer programs that can do what white-collar workers do to the same level of quality that the mechanical assembly line does for blue collar jobs . . . but somehow, white-collar jobs are deemed “too important” for the same process to be applied.

Shitty shoes, cars, oil rigs? Who cares, bring on the champagne! But a lack of quality accountants and actuaries? Microsoft excel could never replace a quality numbersmith! Fie unto those who say a machine would displace a cobbler!

Yes.

But gets even worse still.

With the public being suckered into fully accepting the goodness of evolution, why keep producing the same ole hard to get along with humanoids? GMO’s demonstrate how easy it is to make all biological mechanisms more efficient and socialist friendly. People are just another resource on the farm, why not improve them (making them even more specialized and domesticated). They will never know and we can always get them to agree that it is wonderful and good to replace them. The sheep won’t complain and the cats and dogs will keep protecting us.

Of course, eventually, under the noses of those who dictate change, change reaches to the dictator and then no human existence is to be found at all.

Isn’t technology SO wonderful. :evilfun:

You need to lay off the crack pipe.

Will AI or GE humans remain in the world of futurist sci-fi or will it enter meatspace in our not so distant future, if we have one?

Biological and genetic engineering are definitely part of the foodchain even now and that world is growing. It’s hard to tell how this will affect humans, but it doesn’t look good so far. In fact, I keep thinking that humans will have to be engineered to tolerate and assimilate the new GE foods, along with all the toxins and hormones used in food production… unless we kill the ocean and other ecosystems first, and then it won’t matter anyway.

jonquil, always aiming to be pleasant but failing miserably so damm often it just makes her want to escape into mindless entertainment where nobody gets sick or dies, like Living and Dying in Three-Quarters Time, yeahbuddy. O:)

My profession was “intelligence design”. Believe me, what you think is “Sci-fi” is actually “old-news”. But think for a moment about how quickly advancements are made. What might be easily available in 100 years? But now think, with such power to create ANYTHING and control ALL the Earth and everything on it, what will be left of “humanity” in 1000 years? Why would “they” leave anything at all the way it is right now? NOTHING will suit their desire that already exists. Unfortunately, “they” are not clever enough to prevent them from also replacing themselves as well.

Humanity has already lost its race due to the misguiding power of Socialism.

Was this a serious opinion? I’m curious to understand 1) the extent of what you believe accountants, actuaries and financiers actually “do” today - as compared to 50 years ago, and 2) some sources, anecdotal or otherwise, for these computer programs we purportedly have that can do what these professionals do - after upwards of 5-8 years of post-secondary education.
