the postmodernist

Hi.

Could someone please explain to me the ethos, goals, or advantages to Postmodernism? Could you please provide a human example of a Postmodernist? Could you do all this without referencing “wikipedia”?

No this is not for a homework assignment, I’m just curious and ill-educated.

Thank you!

Thank you for all of your replies, they were much appreciated.

It is now clear to me that the “postmodernist” idea is rubbish and not worth talking about. (im serious)

Thank you.

Post Modernism can be many things.

Some of those are worth talking about. A great many are not, to a certain extent.

I think the overall point here is that no one wants to lay out such a broad concept just for the sole purpose of doing it, seemingly for someone who is simply too tired to. Also… .someone with a rather ambiguous incompatibility with Wiki.

Just narrow the question down and I’ll be happy to go into what you want a bit further.

i think Lyotard summed it all up, amazingly, in a brief sentence: that the defining trait of post-modern literature would be

‘an incredulity towards all meta-narratives’

its an incredibly broad assertion. and to even make the assertion suggests that post-modern thought is a kind of ‘meta-meta-narrative’ in itself. if you can get your head around that, OK COMP, then your on the right track.
