No - I don’t think so, because it’s not based in a resentment towards life. I’m not misanthropic, though I do look with pity upon the masses.
Buddhism is centered around the tenet that " life is suffering " and, therefore, must be shunned - shunned via the elimination of the 5 aggregates. It’s, essentially, a mystical suicide cult - a will towards nothingness.
I think your OP is shunning life. Actually it is shunning and running away from life.
“There is suffering in life” is substantially different to “life is suffering”. I am not a Budfhist but it is not complicated to figure out the difference.
The 4 truths are:
There is xyz in life
There is a cause for xyz
There is an end to xyz
The way to end xyz is to do … in life.
I wouldn’t say " shunning ", but rather " discriminating ". And not all " shunning " is birthed from anti-nature resentment.
Here is the contradistinction between buddhism and myself: They see life as something bad, as something to be escaped and negated. I do NOT; I see life as something to be experienced, experienced with a radical fullness of spirit. One way of doing so, is via meditation - communion with nature. Buddhists don’t meditate to commune with nature, but rather to reach a spiritual unconsciousness, to have their flames blown out.
No they don’t. This is how you see Buddhists not how they see themselves.
Wanting to run away from mankind is not wanting to experience life with radical fullness of spirit… It is called running away. And if this is your cup of tea then go for it… No need to put others down in the process in order to justify yourself.
Like I stated before, I’m not shunning life in some life-abhorring sense. I was being somewhat hyperbolic in my prose; I have family and friends and enjoy experiencing the rage of societal life, but I also like having alone time, so I can ruminate on myself and the cosmos with a pristine clarity. Not all buddhists are as I described, but inherent in the core of buddhism, is a sort of shock and disgust of life and a desire to " escape " it. Why do you think that buddhists try to escape the cycle of life? Because they do NOT like life! Plain and simple. If they did, they wouldn’t try to escape the cycle! They abhor life, because they are too weak-minded to endure the suffering.
You are making hollow accusations and not properly delineating your arguments, nor making cogent, tenable refutations. If that’s all you got, then not much more needs to be stated.
Nein, the onus is on you to elaborate more on your part and to show how my proclivity for solitude is life-negating. I delineated on my part already; now it’s your turn. A paragraph, yeah?
Word counts and a thesaurus do not contribute to sound reasoning and do not function as a basis for evidence. My nonsense can be considered as a more efficient form of communication when compared to your nonsense. I am more than happy to engage in debate when the foundation has basis.
Listen, I’m one for distillations myself; I abhor tedium, but there is a fine line between distillation and being laconic. You need to elaborate more. The onus is on you.
I need not… unsubstantiated claims can be dismissed with unsubstantiated claims. These are your rules of engagement and not mine. I am willing to negotiate new rules of engagement if you wish.
The conversation thus far:
Erik: I want to run away from society and live in the wild away from mankind
Erik: Buddhists shun life and I love life
Jr: That is your opinion of Buddhists. Can you back up that statement. I think you shun life.
Erik: No, Buddhists hate life and I love life.
Jr: That is your false view of Buddhists, can you back that claim up. I think you shun life.
Erik: You need to elaborate. I do not shun life.
Jr: You are making the claim so you need to back up your claim with evidence.
Erik: No, you need to elaborate
Jr: I need not… unsubstantiated claims can be dismissed with unsubstantiated claims.
