The storybook world has reality?
‘first the hills and valleys are not the hills and valleys, then the hills and valleys are only the hills and valleys’
so the sage first sees the world as we all do in our youth, life has reality but also some mystery and there is a story to be discovered. These two things have to be divided and the path must fork for the solution to be resolved. For the sage takes the left hand path and begins to not see the hills and valleys but otherworldly things and illusions. The world being what it is then strips back the ‘blinkers’ [product of seeing illusion], until the hills are clearly visible and there is no fog.
Humanity has also been on that journey, and now we see things as they are [physicalism, materialism] ~ or so it would seem. The valleys are the otherworldly spirit [divine feminine] and the hills are the earthly spirit, like a pregnant woman [in Druidic version of the Tao that is], then the mountains are erect, firm and hence masculine. The ‘seed’ [masculine and materially real] of existences are also in the fertile soil of the divine infinite, ~ the masculine in the feminine. Which suggests that if we consider reality only by virtue of its material qualities, there will be some measure of reality in what is otherwise illusion…
Anyway, the question is; are the hills and valleys only the hills and valleys?
First we can look at what parts of illusion contain a material reality; illusions [dreams, visions, trips etc] has the qualities of sound colour and light, where if we bisect any physical information at any point or spatial location it will yield such qualities/qualia. The colours sounds and touch sensations we experience in e.g. dreams, are not mental qualia, they are ‘physical’ qualities which can be produced by anything with that capability [like a TV or computer]. The difference between the brain and a camcorder is that there is something experiencing the qualities, then critically that the very act of experiencing the brains camcorder DOES bisect physical informations. hence this act of bisecting info will yield the respective quality/qualia, but will do it specifically to the instrument reading it [performing the act of bisecting].
It is not directly the brains camcorder doing the bisecting of info, but instead the brain is producing a tool we call ‘experience’ and ‘consciousness’, and it is that doing the bisecting. If true then that IS the will acting!? The brain is equally functioning like an instrument ~ an organic camcorder, and that is also bisecting derivative informations. Our conscious experience is analogous perhaps to the viewscreen of a camcorder.
Spiritually I think ‘quality’ is of the feminine or left hand side/path of the yin/yang symbol/schemata, where quanta [information] is the masculine or right hand side/path. They both relate to each other respectively, and if you make a machine [or nature makes us] it will utilise both quality and quanta ~ even though machines can also be ‘zombies’ and ‘work’ without the qualia being relevant.
The question finally arises as to weather or not qualities can be affecting? Can the quality/qualia of colour affect/effect physical informations? If consciousness is a qualia, can it be affecting? Consider that it would be without function et al if non-affecting.
