The Untitled Ode to Life

Unfortunately this poem uses spaces for emphasis, and the only way this forum supports it is by making the text look hidious with the Courier New font.

Here’s a link to how the poem should look like purely: files.deviantart.com/f/2003/52/b … _Life.html
The Untitled Ode to Life

I. The Third Page Of Any Book

When I was young
Fragile and caring
I was wrong.

When I went to school
Questioning and staring
I was the fool.

Now
When I was young I thought love wasn’t for me,
For this love, I could write, cry and bleed.
(Can you see the injustice?)
I could spend nights sobbing and whispering
Be frightened by compassion, be surrounded by empathy.
It was all entropy, condensed and flashing within my mind.
My heart bled onto paper defining what is not meant to be
Was I wrong, can I avoid what I set myself to see?

I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I i I

Word after word I grew
Waving, wandering down Definition Road.
I was driven! Running swiftly past sound, air and light.
I am the hamster wheel.
Shattered. Tormented. Within.
Benevolence behold, thou hast created me, Ego ex amo!
There is change (Look!) inside these pearls.
Glimmer past the fortune, scrape beside sorrow.
I am a broken shell, leaning beside cheap plastic.

II. Another Miscarriage of Language

_forgottenrealmsofmymind
Do you feel empty,
Can you sense … emptiness?
Don’t touch that,
It truely does hurt.
Rise at the rage,
For it dooms me.
Ravage those who judge,
Claim their wives,
Master emotion.
Posess their spirit,
There is no return.
Blasts be the universe!

III. Bittersweet Rusted Lips

I am shaken, are you?
Sit, let’s talk and review
Our state of emotion
Seems quite the same.
Flow flow flow through
the forbidden indigo.
It’s all we have,
What else is there
To cling to?
(SORE overboard!)
Loose letters clump wrong.

Yesterday I was robbed, (no trusting anyone anymore)
Took everything I had. (bloody barbarians these days)
What am I going to tell her? (begin with the truth, then work your way down)
This is going to shatter Di. (halt to the left, you’re out of control!)
I love her (no one is in love, for they know not its sweet betrayal)
But she keeps asking (we want we want we want we want i want youdon’trustme)
For things I cannot buy! (take her down to the river where she can forever be in peace)
She really wanted that… (what? What could she possibly want- MORE? Can you ever have enough?!)
She’s only three for crying out loud!

Did you ever get stopped in the name of love?
I… honestly cannot say I have.
The divas are pointing and back-ups laughing.
You’ll die cold in the stripe-shadow room, alone.
Everyone dies-
Why WOULD I bother to try?
My legacy is pain, my posterity is suffering.
Smile! (flash)
Let us remember my stiffened face forever,
Grim and drifting, into the abyss of no return.
Goonight everyone. Goonight love. Ta ta.
Goonight.

IV. Light At The End Of The Bottle

I don’t come here often.
I don’t want you.
Don’t talk to me.
Don’t leave me.
Leave alone.
Leave me.
I’m all alone.

You wanna dance?
No really, let’s give it a twirl.
I’ll fuck your brains out, no kidding.
I am the man, I know everyone wants to be like me.
I can, I want and I will! I am superman.
My cardio-vascular level is to die for,
I’m trimmed and athletic, unlike you.
Don’t you wish you could talk to me?
Feel my breath against your weak skin?
I can give you what I want.
I want you with raw, animal lust.
I will have the most intense, mind-shattering orgasm.
Feelings? Love? What are you, a faggot?
I’ve always been at war with Oceania!

V. The Triumph of Logic

(Go away.
Do you know my torment?
The sizzling uncertainties
Are killing me within.
No, I don’t… can’t quite talk about it.
You see, I am dying.
I am the cruelest nine months
Anyone can suffer.)

You’re crazy!
Fuck you,
I used to care for you.
Did you?
I don’t know you
Anymore.

I can handle it (Feel my laughter.)
Don’t rob me (And me? Does anyone care… for me?)
Of what I love. (Stop saying that! The pain I feel when you say that rotten word!)
You’re sick, (Gush your filthy fucking liquids, spew the unholy!)
I’m keeping it. (Give me meaning and I shall give you death.)
Stay away from me! Put that knife down!
(Blessed was I.)

VI. World’s First Goodhello

Relax. Take a deep breath.
It’s not over, not quite. Yet.

We’re thrown into this world.
Cold and unfriendly (why can you just die?)
I am the carpenter of altruism.
There is light, but I am definately not from it.
Can I hold you, just for a moment?
There there, it’s all right. (Shanti shanti shanti)

Did they scare you?
There’s nothing to be frightened about,
It’s all in your head. There there.
Things are wrong,
I won’t say otherwise.
Out of this ravage chaos,
Will bloom a faithful
Rouge rogue.

Go now, you’ve overstayed.
They’re waiting for you,
Behind that cold door.
A whole world
At your mercy.
Gooday.
I like it, I love the spaces, it has a great effect on the poem, you might want to run it in a quote or something and make the font smaller, as it takes off a few lines and moves them. But all in all, I like it. I don’t like to downrate poetry too much, because, heh, poetry is poetry, if I don’t like something, I don’t read it. But this, this kept me reading. Good job
