The who new cd "endless wire"

I have listened to this cd several times.
Some songs are not that good, some are good,
but none of them were great like the great old
who songs such as “baba o’reily” and “won’t get fooled again”.
The best songs are actually the slower, low key songs with
keyboards and vocals or guitar and vocals. Peter townshend
is 60+ and it shows. He has become reflective, nowhere near
as angry as he used to be. I think the best song is
“Black widow’s eyes”. It is is the most hummable song.
Actually I still haven’t even listen to the live part of the cd
“Live at Lyon”

I was looking at that one 30 minutes ago. Ultimately I didn’t buy it; I’d rather remember the Who as a great band than be “fooled again” by another dino-rocker trying to make one last grab at the cash.

That said, if I hear good comments from people I know I’ll probably cave and buy it.

Don’t go into it thinking about “THE WHO”
and their great works of yesteryear. Come to it clean
and don’t think who did it and you’ll be surprise.
It stands on its own. It is not a repeat of the who of the past
but of the who today.

How’s Daltry’s voice holding up?

Not too well, but he is over 60 also and has
been singing for over 40 years and that is bound
to damage one’s voice. Both daltry and townshend sings
in this one, if you have listen to both as long as I have,
you can tell the difference, but the average listener
probably can’t tell.

I don’t think they sound particularly alike, vocally. Yeah, I could see the lifestyle could take its toll on his voice. Just look at Robert Plant- his voice is just a dry, dusty husk of the glory of his Zep days. Still, 60% of Robert Plant is still better than most of what passes for singing nowadays.

Most singers go to hell after 60.
there are only a few exceptions and they
mostly are soft music type, tony bennett
for example. Frank Sinatra voice went to hell
in his 40’s. Mic Jagger’s voice went years ago,
but he was never much of a singer anyway.
