Why do people hate Palin so much? I only know her as a hate figure, is she some sort of evangelist? Whenever somebody speaks anything to do with politics, I switch off, but I’ll listen this time I swear

Not to any extreme I don’t think. She is just very shallow and insipid. The only real edge she ever held in an election was due to her gender, not by merit. Not to mention that her campaign methodology overtly treats the election process as a popularity contest.
She went on Leno [late night talk show] and did 10 minutes or so of abhorrently awkward stand-up comedy. Fucking seriously?! The woman is clown shoes.

I think she fascinates people momentarily, and America is very heavily a culture of celebrity these days. But I don’t expect she’ll be relevent forever. Part of the fascination is that her story is just so weird: John McCain was running a bizarre presidential campaign and ended up looking under rocks for a running mate until he found this obscure individual up in the wilds (hardly vetting her at all…for a person who’d be one heart attack away from the presidency!) I read the book “Game Change” about the 2008 election and was stunned by how incompetent his campaign was. In fact, according to the book, she ended up close to a mental breakdown because she was in so far over her head. That’s why they had to keep her carefully scripted and away from all but a few friendly reporters who wouldn’t press her for details until the election.
She’s savvy at manipulating the media and got right out there on Facebook & Twitter – or her handlers did, since I think she is somewhat of a bimbo with a scary personality. But she knew enough to get people good at promoting a particular image to a particular constituency, which is pretty much the far right conservative older white people (especially the men, who want to do her) who respond to emotional flag-waving messages and are amazingly adept at voting against their own best interests. I also think she was at the right place at the right time, with the all the tea party shit and the impact of Fox News on the political scene.
She can now keep up the hype on a presidential run in 2012, but I don’t know if she’ll have much staying power after that. Her schtick could get boring over the long term.

She creates elaborate and absurd narratives for no reason at all that no one gives a fuck about. It really Reminds me of North Korea. Like her TV show, which I’ve watched once. She talked about people in Alaska having to catch their dinner becasue their aren’t supermarkets or whatever, which is obviously bullshit, and then to prove it she hops a plane to a helicopter to a fishing boat. IS she fucking retarded??? She charters a plane to a helicopter to a boat to demonstrate that she is self reliant and tough. And then she spends the entire episode playing outside, and claims that spending time outdoors is “work”. Likewise she’ll make some offhand comment about guns for Alaskans being like cell-phones for New Yorkers, and then the next 5 minutes will be her trying to get her 10 year old daughter to put the blackberry down.
I know exactly why she does this shit too, everyone in America does. She’s trying to sell a working class “family value” narrative with heavy Christian undertones because 50% of our population will vote for that image no questions asked. It’s so hilariously obvious though.
