them Canadians

so what aboot canada eh?

what do you guys think of canada? be honest?

i am from canada and i know the ins and outs of canadian culture. (ill answer any questions after you state your opinion  )

dont hate me for a short OP but i don’t want to taint anybody.

ok so let the conceptions fly!

I have no problems with anybody, from any country on the planet - I take people on a case-by-case basis.

…on an even more positive note: are there many Canadian mounties still in existence? =P~

Is weed legal at shops in Vancouver? I’ve smoked the island sweet skunk from British Columbia, it was probably the best I have had.

Weed and Mounties! Throw in some snowboaring, and Canada sounds great!

There’s no Canada like French Canada!

What the hell is this Mundane Babble doing in the social science forum?

Unfortunately not. It’s just that it’s so easy to grow weed in BC that no one can control it. It’s like making air illegal.

Canadian culture? Perhaps i’m ignorant but isn’t Canadian culture more or less similar to American culture (minus NASCAR)?

Pretty much, but there are subtle differences if you look closely.

Canadians are fine neighbors, anyone who gets happy over a violent game like the US does can’t be all bad. We have football, you have hockey. I have heard complaints about the Govt’ just like we complain. How is the the gun laws in Canada working out? Are people there compliant about giving up their weapons?

I thought ISS was grown by the Bc government? This is a massive disappointment.

You have to give up your weapons? I thought no one ever got shot in Canada. You know, the Peaceable (Frozen) Kingdom, and all that.

By the way, Kris, they do have football - they just didn’t get all the rules right, or even the playing field.

Canadians are nice (the english ones, anyway) but lousy tippers. It’s a black mark on the country. The french ones try to be as haughty as real french, but don’t usually quite make it. Real french people are just plain nasty. You’d think they’d have managed to win a war or two.

Sadly our national sport is Lacrosse lol, only wish it was hockey. On the gun law issue though, no one has really had their guns taken away since very few people own guns here. Specially in the metropolitans, maybe in the more rural areas people may have more guns per home but it’s still a minority. Somehow the need to bear arms never crossed the border, and how thankful we are of that :stuck_out_tongue:

Nuff said.

basically canada is the same as america except for a few subtle differences.

we wear tookes and play hockey, thats as unique as it gets.

many people think we are nothing but one big cold ass frozen country but that is a myth. Canada has seasons just like the U.S and our summers can get uncomfortably hot.

no, weed is not legal, thanks to stephen harpers biggotry we canadians are currently on a weed abolishing/ gay hating tip.

if you want to buy weed in shops, you simply have to know the right people; it’s still illegal tho.

unlike americans we canadians aren’t born with guns attached to us so we never had to give them up in the first place…

if you like to hunt all you need is a permit (hard to come by)

canadian ā€œcultureā€ is exactly like the U.S; white dominated suburbs. people across the globe think we are some sort of joke country. the reason i posted this in social sciences is because i wanted to see genuine opinions. i hoped that an educated crowd would produce some satisfactory results.

and indeed for the most part you guys are on the level with canada; the south park movie did more damage than a war ever could.

i still could pick out a couple misconceptions like french people being nasty and our weed propaganda ; just because all your weed comes from us doesn’t mean its legal here

American i take it

He’s as Canadian as you - Laval, to be precise!

yes but he’s an american at heart

I lost $40 at the casino in Niagara Falls last week, and the waterfall itself is pretty overrated. Also, the Cuban cigars there cost twice what they do in Mexico and the weather is really shitty.

I’ve been to Victoria, Vancouver, Saskatoon, Calgary, Toronto and Edmonton and I quite liked them. Although Saskatoon struck me as a bit too country :-k
