There's no Black in the Union Jack - but there might be soon

I heard about this when it first happened but the recent outbreak of Nazi Assclownism on ILP refreshed my memory.

This is the homepage of ReFlag, the campaign to replace the existing Union Jack with the monstrosity seen in the bbc article.

I love the way that even a politically correct campaign like this cannot help but use stereotypes - the black person used on the front page is a young man in urban clothes. They weren’t smart enough in their semiotics to pick an older black person to try to encourage the image that Black people have been being born in Britain (the most appropriate test of Britishness) for many decades.

They also weren’t smart enough to do anything but slap a big black cock all over the flag and pretend that they were standing up for an oppressed minority:

If the point of the flag is to be representative then what about all the non-black non-white people? Why do we have blue in the flag at all when there hasn’t been a blue-skinned Brit for centuries? Why not just abolish the striped flag and have a picture of a line of people of all colours and creeds holding hands and singing instead? If you are going to do something then do it properly…

I think the blue and red people are massively over compensated for…

What always black people?

Aren’t there other minorities to talk about?

It’s my opinion that in the US we have a growing Asian population, but you would never know it.

I pondered this - for the same reason that whenever people talk about Global Poverty they refer to Africa (as though it were all uniformly impoverished and as though everywhere else were fine)…

Damn it. There is nothing worse than having to agree with someone you are bent on disagreeing with, perpetually. LOL.

I have to concede this point, I have said the exact same thing a number of times.

Why is the black community, which always touts its’ need to feel responsible for its’ own race, the one that always takes precedence in a conversation of the “underprivileged”? Is there an epistemic function that gives corollary reasoning for this issue?

My dark suspicion is that white people view black people as some kind of pet.

LMAO … provocateur!!!

There is no stemming of the flow of Asians into America, and yet, they seem to be the invisible empire of immigrants. Reasons?

Conspiracy!! Conspiracy I say!! Time to reopen the concentration camps, we can even use the old run down institution of Adlerschwitz!!!

Of course the rest of the world is fine, they have Whitey the Man, King Cracker. Nothing in the world happens without the fingerprint of Whitey the Man.
