A ex left out of state leaving me her two cats. I’ve tried to get rid of them by giving them to other people and even thought about giving them to a animal shelter to get euthanasia, however the little bastards have grown on me where I’ve decided to keep them. I have far more sympathy with the plight of animals then I do with other human beings.
Anybody else want to give this a try? This is me trying to break the ice here.
Actually this is a good breaking the ice conversation starter for complete strangers to get to know each other.
Complete strangers? Shit, why didn’t you try this prior to your incessant diatribes?
Yeah, we have two cats as well. Kind of grown on us too, and I didn’t consider myself a “cat” guy. I had a dog “River” in my opinion the best damned dog a stupid human could ever have. He was embarrassingly protective and just plain embarrassing as well. As a puppy we had him tied up outside a restaurant, I went out to check on him while my brother hit on the waitress. He comes out with her and introduces me, and she says: “are you aware your dog is pissing on your leg?”
Damn dog seems to have had lots to teach me. The first of which was I was his, not the other way around. Strange I felt a bit honored in addition to the embarrassment before a hot chick, the dog was “marking me” as “his”, and the dog turned out to be an outstanding judge of character.
Yeah, my dream pet is a German sheppard. I would like to raise one up from a pup. I don’t really like cats and I keep these cats confined to the guest bedroom otherwise they’ll just tear up my entire apartment. They’re filthy animals too and I don’t like it when I have to clean up after them.
Still I felt it was the right thing to take care of them because I didn’t want to hear about them getting hit by a car if I released them outside to whatever fate had in store for them afterwards. I also didn’t like the idea of poisonous euthanasia for them in a animal shelter either.
So, for now I am stuck with them.
Look for a no kill shelter, there is usually one in most cities. Cats can be trained to not be destructive or make a mess, it is no different than training a dog. Use a squirt bottle when they are about to do something wrong or are doing something. The biggest difference between cats and dogs, you can piss a cat off in training, they don’t submit to physical punishment hence the squirt bottle. Squirting water at them is an effective deterrent and they do not get pissed. They will learn acceptable behavior. Otherwise find a no kill shelter.
I live in a rural area where I don’t have much of a means to travel to the cities hence my dilemma.
Squirt gun or bottle then, with a loud sound from you such as no or bad. They will learn.
I’ll have to try that out.
Eventually you will just need to say no or bad to them.
My confession,
I worry alot, it has to do with my ability to solve problems and hiding emotions so that I can help not hinder. Only my husband, kid and closest friend ever see the truth.
I have a hard time asking for help, even when I desperately need it - much like a cat who will avoid letting on that it’s injured in order to hide that it’s at a disadvantage.
Sometimes, it gets me into a lot of trouble.
I secretly like, “Sponge Bob Square Pants”.
Patrick the star fish is absolutely one of the best slackers of all time that lives under a rock.
Sponge Bob has to be the most funny completely oblivious oppressed working class slaves at the Crusty Crab.
I am German, Hungarian, Scottish, and Khazar.
The German and Hungarian on my grandfather’s side. Scottish on my grandmother’s side. Khazar [ Jew] from my father’s side.
I still watch cartoons. I like the Looney Tunes and Sponge Bob Square Pants.
Ever got really drunk and watched Sponge Bob Square Pants? I have.
Makes it all the more hilarious.
My dad and step family are keeping 2 cats in doors. They raised them from kittens. After seeing them for a short time, I decided that cats are equal to skunks. I hold skunks in high regards. These cats are friendly and well-behaved. I’m tempted to feed them little treats too.
I admit that allot of the things about me used to be negative then I turned them into a positive.
It’s allot like how, long ago, government used to be negative then canadian liberals tried to convert it into something good and useful instead of aborting and destroying it. But, in my own case of personality, I think it is much less negative than it was. The government example, it may not be appropriate, but, I said it anyways.
I am not a pet person I must admit Dan. I just can’t stand being pestered by them especially with the messes they leave everywhere. I like animals, just from afar by observation.
Closest thing I got to a dwelling acquaintance is my pal, “Dead Fred”
He’s a skeleton figurine that hangs from my kitchen ceiling. He doesn’t say much however. Maybe I should take a picture of dead Fred and post it here on ILP tomorrow.
