think of the cultural implications

think about the cultural impact this could have: NO WAR HAS BEEN FOUGHT WHERE BOTH COUNTRIES HAD A McDonalds

great! give ronald mcdonald the nobel peace prize… he deserves it as much as that peanut farmer from georgia…

do we need any more reasons for multinational corporations to get richer? [-X

An interesting quote.

You can read all about it on wikipedia.

A deal to open the first Mcdonalds in the former Soviet Union occured BEFORE the collapse of the Soviet Union. So you’re wrong. Sorry, but this is one of those nice phrases that teenagers use to try and make general points about things that they don’t understand that isn’t actually true. Try researching a claim before repeating it…

mcdonalds.ca/en/aboutus/mcdC … tones.aspx

I mean no offence by this, it’s just that I have had to put up with a lot of this sort of bullshit recently and I’m nearing the end of my tether with it.

Another milestone:
2003 - McDonald’s once again reinvents breakfast with the McGriddlesâ„¢ breakfast sandwich - a delicious handheld package that combines bacon or sausage, egg and processed cheese, sandwiched between delicious hot cakes with the syrup baked right in.

Fucking hell, that sounds RANK…

was the Mcdonalds actually opened in the societ union or did the collapse prevent it?
and don’t be a moron I wasn’t making any point. It was in a forward I got and I found it funny. I’m not some dumb teenager making a point about something I don’t know about if I was making a point I would have posted it elsewhere, and checked my facts not posted it in mundane babble. so try not to be quite so up yourself next time. and I don’t care what bullshit you had to put up with don’t take it out on me.
I posted it after reading it out of interest and curiosity. and if that is too much for you to deal with. don’t read it next time

Sara,

I find your signature highly ironic.

Why did you bring it up? I’ve no idea. But it is nonetheless one of those things that teenagers… (what I said in the first post). You may or may not be one of those teenagers, like I say, I’ve no idea why you brought this up. My instruction to you was to research a claim before making it, I was assuming that you were posting this as a claim. If you weren’t then simply ignore that comment.

The deal was struck prior to the fall of the Soviet Union but the actual store didn’t open until afterwards. The striking of the deal is significant - Mcdonalds couldn’t have known in 87 or 88 precisely when Soviet Communism would collapse. The original quotation apparently says ‘since they got their Mcdonalds’ so I suppose it’s technically correct. Still, we can always hope for a European/Chinese vs. American war in the middle of the 21st century. And plenty of Mcdonalds stores have been smashed by ‘anarchists’ in protests…

I’m so confused. I don’t remember a war between the U. S. and The Soviet Union. Do I smoke that much dope? I’ll have to research it.

Anyway, the irony is that the U. S. is fighting a war right now to make Iraq safe for McDonald’s.
