Normally, I’m more of a whining-pacifist (and yes, a “victim” too ), but today, I’m going to take a stand:
What the heck is up with the Heavily Moderatored Philosophy board. It has returned, but this time, when I tried to post a decent thread, I got this message:
“Sorry, but only users granted special access can post topics in this forum.”
I mean, come on. If hated Philosophyforums.com because of the elietist-personality that was rampant there. Now, you go and create a heavily moderatered philosophy board, and give on certain people access to it? I do not mind the idea of having a heavily moderatored version of the philosophy board, and I personally would keep 95% of my posts in the regular philosophy section, but I don’t like the fact that I now no longer have a choice.
Am I not “good” enough for the rest of everyone else here?
I think the thing to do is to take the topics and ideas on the “special” board and start topics on the regular Philosophy board to discuss them – for us “lesser people”.
The “special” board makes sense to me if it facilitates conversation among the educated or talented on the board (and keeps out the irrational athiest element). Much of what “we” say is a lot of dribble. I think the hope is that some hard-core philosophy will be engendered by the “special” board – without the rest of us getting in the way. (And we all get the chance to post there based on merit.) It should be fun/edifying for those posting there.
