It looks like Allen will concede today in about an hour and
the democrats will control the house and senate.
Bush suddenly has changed course, ummmmm,
and has seen the light. He must now work with the democrats.
As someone else around here pointed out earlier,
(can’t remember who) if bush had been this conciliatory earlier,
the GOP would still be in power. This is not the time to gloat,
(that was yesterday)Today is the time to give help to all
Americans, not just the rich and powerful and the special interest
groups the GOP have been aiding for the last 6 years instead
of America as a whole. Today the government becomes what
it is meant to be, government of the people, for the people and
by the people. Not government of the lobbyist, for the lobbyist,
and by the lobbyist. Personally I welcome the change (not
for the power) but to pass meaningful legislation like increasing
minimum wage, and improving the standard of living for
the average American. The fact is government when done
right can be a positive force for helping people improve their
lives. The proposition that Government is ALWAYS part
of the problem is simply wrong. I hope the democrats
show us that the government is simply a tool of the people
to improve their lives in ways that is simply not possible for
one person to do on their own. The government does not
exist just in far off Washington dc, but in your neighborhood.
As police/fire, schools, building and maintaining roads
as well as defending your very safety with the military.
This election shows us the wisdom of the people and
now the democrats must show us that the faith of the
people was not in vain.
While I am thinking about it, the chances of a 9/11
attack just dramatically increased but not for the reasons
you think. It will be used as a way to demonize the demo’s.
Basically used this way, see under the GOP house and
senate, we weren’t attack, but under the demo’s house
and senate we were attacked. but the bottom line is still
the president is in charged of the executive branch and
that is where the defense of the country is executed.
Congress can help and aid, but it has far less influence
on this, then does the president.
The fact that Bush said he didn’t see the volume of dissent coming, is EXTREMELY worrying. Have they still got this guy cocooned from reality or is this just his blind, faith-based mind set?
Something else I find very worrisome is that while Bush DID have a plan – to do the same thing over and over and hope the outcome would be different – the Democrats don’t have a shared plan at all.
I’m hoping they’re waiting for the yet to be released recommendation study before consolidating around one set of recommendations. If not, you’ll have a choice between one focused plan that’s not working or half a dozen ad hoc plans that are focused on political posturing not desired outcomes.
oh crap i forgot! the whole reason why terrorism exists is because the rich have fabricated the whole idea and the 911 attacks, trying to consolidate totalitarian fascist control over our country. now that the populous congress is in power again, the secret fascist government that actually rules us are probably setting up the next attack as we speak!
how many times have republicans said that if the democrats get power, we are gonna get “hit again”! A LOT!!! they werent joking! dont fly, im serious. big brother will kill you.
