Time travel is impossible. Time is just a concept created by man to mark the passing of life. Natural time(The passing of the seasons) has always been with us. Theoretical time( Secs, Mins Hours) was created by man and is a purely abstract concept. Since man can only travel within the realm of reality and not through a concept, time travel is impossible.
I don’t think time was created by man since it existed before man.
Time travel into the future is very possible and real. Einstein’s theories said that faster one is moving relative to someone else the slower time will go for the person moving faster relative to that other person. In other words, let’s say I’m traveling in a space ship at 90% the speed of light while you’re on earth. To both of us time would seem like it’s moving at the same rate. But relative to you, my time is moving much slower. So I could come back to earth and, on earth, 800 years could have passed but on my spaceship only 5 years passed. So time travel into the future is possible but into the past, I think, is impossible. There’s nothing recording time. How can we go back to something that already happenned? Once moment in time has passed, it’s done, it’s over. There is no way to revisit that moment.
Well, it is conceivable that one might perceptually revisit an event; acoustically, an echo is such a revisitation. Affectively, your point is valid; i think.
time travel into the future? impossible! ask me again tomorrow.

According to special relativity, even relative to the moving observer, relative to another observer, time would seem to be slowing down for the other observer, not just relative to the other observer. We would never be able to build a time machine if it requires an acceleration, since that would break special relativity’s simultaneity principle, and thus the principles do not hold.
my god valdas, all those relatives, its like a family reunion up in here…
cheers,

I agree completely old phil, time is just a measurement of the passage of existance. inches are man made units of measurement which measure the 3 dimensions of physical objects. seconds are a man made unit of measurement which measure the length of time things exist.
time is a non-physical median through which events occur in an irreversable order. aka if you burn that 20$ bill its not coming back.
Everything is always in existence through time. “Things” never cease to exist.
What do you mean by that? You can very well possible build a time machine that requires acceleration to travel to the future of a slower accelerating body than the one you are traveling in.
imp:
we well never reach tomorrow, we are always stuck in today, sorry.
(or is that getting to philosophical for a natural sciences page)
no, but it is being too grammatical

id bet everyone on this forum will cease to exist at some point in time.
The concept of time travel is not travelling through minutes, seconds etc, but to events that took place at some point, or will happen at some point.
As spw317 said; Everything is always in existence through time. “Things” never cease to exist.
The fact that days, hours, minutes and all that are a man-made invention is irrelevant.
Yes, life will cease to exist but the matter that composes your body never will.
law of conservation of matter
if i burn a $20 bill how can i undo that action? a rational person would say its impossibel. Nobody has the ability to undo the past(because the past is nothing more than a memory)
I don’t travel through time , it travel’s through me.
If the exact amount of energy, the correct pattern flows and the correct energy at one specific time can be measured and recreated in a controlled environment. You might revisit the echo of an event but the actual event in that time and space would be changed if you enter it therefore you would never reach the exact time or place you wished to because your energy input would shift and or change everthing there.
Time travel would involve more math and calculations then several generations of a select number of humans could ever do. It would not be feasable to even invest in such a generation project that has no guarantee at all.
The only way would be to piggyback the flow of energy coming from or to that time as just energy and not a biologic creature. Once you enter the exact time you could transfer your energy into a biologic body that already exists and proceed from there.
Yes this has flaws but, it is possible.
Is it real or is it Memorex?
no,just think what time is. if time is a measurement it must certainly be a measurement of something and not nothing. i think time is a measurement of existnace. After you experiance what you will experiance in any given day, another day follows. to go back in “time”(to yesterday) we are really reversing the flow of existance(which i think is impossible). When anything becomes existant(through whatever process that caused its existance) it is existant untill something happens which changes it. when something changes it becomes something new(otherwise it did not change). humans are different because we are always changing something about out existance(be it our location, our consumption of substances, our ageing ect.) life(for humans) is the progression from one experiance to another ending in death. therefore when we imagine going back in “time” its actually going back in life(as time is a measurement of lifes progress), or reversing the flow of existance.
facts of life; birth(coming to be),irreversable progression of experiances(being), death(ceasing to be). we progress through life 1 day at a time. to travell through time any faster(or to go back in time to the past) is impossible; because the past is a memory and the future yet to be. We all exist “now” and only now. That said, “now” is a constant progression toward the future, as the past is obviously inaccesible to humans.
