As thinkers and writers we all have limited time for bodycare. I’m sure that some of us do better than others. My question is simple, ‘do you wear a beard?’
Now of course some of you will be too young to grow beards or too old to care about such things so for them I ask ‘if you could grow a beard and did care about it, would you do so?’
I wear a full beard (though I’ve been thinking about getting myself some yorkshire farmer muttonchops like Monooq) but not really through choice. Well, I suppose that I do choose to be too lazy to shave.
Any tales of beard related mishaps or other such things would be welcome here, consider this not just a poll but a general beard related thread. Ladies, feel welcome to answer this question too…
Facial hair on a man can be highly stimulating for women. I prefer beards and mustaches combined, Not too long though and not too little. The unkempt hermit look or biker/pirate look is just too lazy looking for my taste, it hides the man, makes him look like he is hiding himself, or trying for the wild dog look. I like it just after it becomes non scratchy and and slightly soft.
The cowboy or lumber jack look has always done it for me. A tight accentuating beard an mustache gives a man an appearance of strength and confidence 2 or 3 inches on the beard and do not let the mustache cover your lip, that is gross. A man with a good beard and mustache always makes me look him over as eye candy, older men and younger men. A beard with grayness, especially around the sideburns, has always been a turn on too. My husband is sexier now with gray in his beard then when it was fully dark.
Like most men, I automatically started shaving when the hair started growing, and like most men, I always got a sore neck afterwards. Several months ago I stopped shaving my neck, so have now got what you might call a “neck beard”. Shaving is no longer uncomfortable for me, and even though the result looks a bit weird by the standard criteria, I don’t care - I’d rather be an eye-sore than a neck-sore!
I have what could be called a ‘weak chin’. I’ve been wearing a goateee for years now, and man. Do I ever look better with it.
Well, as long as it is well-groomed. Occasionally I get lazy and there is this wierd bi-phasic beard. Not a good look. Or the goatee reaches a point of critical nappiness. But those are the exceptions, not the rule.
My beard is reddish and about four inches now. Just today someone I didn’t know in the street asked me how long I had been growing it. Many strangers look at me/it in a way that is positive.
This site is massively undersubscribed given its near universal appeal, I suggest that anyone with a beard take and submit a picture of it. We need to get this place moving…
really, beards… surely not? maybe i’m too young to get it, but id rather kiss a guy who was gonna give me stubble burn, than someone with a beard!!!
plus i hear what you are saying about ‘too lazy to shave’ i’m a girl so i don’t know much about this, but aren’t beards difficult and a hassle to maintain anyway???

deep in the archives somewhere i have already touched on this exact subject. that thread had more sophisticated discussion, but it is good to have a gander at pictures as well.
yorkshire farmer muttonchops? no. mine is more properly referred to as a colonial style beard.
