That “simplicity” of outlook is exactly why as a society we of so fucking damned. A psychologist can’t do Jack save sit down someone suffering from paraphilia and ask them how it makes them feel… and discussing it to someone with voyeuristic tendencies (he likes to be the watcher and the watched apparently, especially with those too immature to fully grasp, must less healthily respond to him) is a nightmarish paradox, as all it does is encourages him to relive it imaginatively and talk of his exploits. It does nothing to discourage him… even firmly telling such a person no results in them shutting down… but they do seek approval. Remember the pedophile from Kinsey?
What else can the psychologist do? Write a prescription the more or less chemically castrates them, or effectively lobotomizes him? There is no cure for this, no simple elective treatment… and many have asked for one. Just isn’t. Why? The reasons I listed in the post above, it is a paraphilia, but because it is sexual, and a seeming choice, we list it as free will as far as our attitude goes legal philosophy, not a compulsion. But we recognize the flip side as well, and severe fuck them over. The Marxist/Socialist remedy of preventing crime through poverty alleviation doesn’t fit the paradigm either… giving these guys apartments in your neighborhood off your dime, so they can lure your kid into their apartment between shifts at the job their parole officer got them doesn’t do shit for anyone’s piece of mind.
It is a fact… we absolutely hate these people, literally banish them to the frozen, dead fringes of society. We can’t easily rein corporate them… many find work, start a family, but they also have a very high rate of recidivism, turn more anti-social, vindictive, will fuck you over in a heartbeat even when you try to help.
This is the insanity of where we are. A deeply Satanic society, renouncing science… which far too many claim must triumph over religion, and let our faith and ignorant self interest guide our decision making process. The parallels of a Pedophile cure runs too close to the hendonist philosophy of gay rights, and bans on gay cure testing. It is one and the same, two sides of the same coin. It isn’t your minor neurosis, or a passing cough. We are talking about rewriting someone’s sexual impulses.
We essentially do this… rather badly, at reforming them through prisons… a joke in this crime’s case. We know it too… it is more or less a place to hold them… considered less than murder, so not for life… and then go through incredible measures to track them, to limit them, keep them broken on the fringes. How is this different from Jean Valjean?
They aren’t allowed Valjean’s redemption because we know they can’t. It needs therefore cured. Till then we follow a dark religion of cruel ignorance. Even I am bound to it, as I can offer no solution save the necessity for the search. Something we’ve falsely erected a otherwise non-existent wall of far fetched ethics against. We preach “go fucking die in a ditch you piece of shit” instead when they are released, and force them to register said ditch, photograph them in said ditch, and drag them back screaming to the ditch or prison when they cone back to live amongst us. That is Liberalism.
