Pascal does not mention ECT, but calls the alternative to belief in God cause for existence in hell. It was well known in his time that hell stood for a place of eternal conscious torment.

Perhaps I mistook what Pascal wrote; but the point is that an either/or choice, when one option is bliss and the other is perdition, smacks of coercion, not of free will.
Sorry for getting off topic. The free will/determinism debate is an endless excursion into beliefs pro and con.
