…

I don’t know why but this thread made me laugh.

That is a good damn question. I would think that it would be difficult to get the right cast for it. One small mistake in a character and it would be ruined. Who would play Zarathustra? A big star? If so, he would have to be carefully picked.

Hugh Jackman?

I’ve been thinking about this ever since I read TSZ, it being by far the most cinematic piece of philosophy I’ve come across. I’ve no idea about casting, but setting would be very important indeed.

The trouble is if they do produce such a movie, it would have to be dumbed down so that the mob could understand it; thus destroying the very point of the message the book is meant to project.

Nah, just make it properly and have NO designs on making a profit. It’s not like Disney are producing it…

You think Hugh Jackman should be the setting? I mean, I suppose killing someone and using their corpse as the setting is very Nietzschean, very “I did this because I have the power to, and poo-poo to your slave morality!” but still, I think the legal department of the producers might have a problem with that.

This is true.

What we could do is start the movie with a blank screen, and the words “a movie for all and none”…and then “this movie is posthumous, you do not yet have eyes to see it” …and then end it with the credits.

The movie would be a total length of about four seconds, and I think Fritz would want it that way.

I started writing a screenplay about Nietzsche recently. I drafted the opening scene, featuring a visit from Resa von Schirnhofer to Weimar. It included the voiceover:

Of course, I’ll most likely never get beyond the sixth page. Cause that’s how I roll n’ shit.

Nah, he should play the voice of one of the animals.

They might, but what good movie didn’t inspire a couple of lawsuits?

SIATD, what happened to that girl in your avatar? Did she recover?

I dunno, I haven’t found the full video yet.

The challenge would be in deciding what to include and what to leave out. Clearly, you would need someone like Stephen Metcalf to write the script.

The only person who could have done it well was Kubrick, and he’s dead.

You could always pool resources. Get Ang Lee, Spielberg, Scorcese, Wim Wenders and Zhang Yimou to all co-direct and co-produce.

Throw Lucas in there and it would no doubt be a blockbuster.

… I just figured out how to fix Zarathustra… make him a Jedi!
