2012

I find it pretty hard to believe myself. As if human civilization just follows patterns like clockwork. Even more hard to believe is the idea that we wouldn’t be aware of it and they would. You’d have to accept both of those pretty hard to believe premises to believe that 2012 is actually of any significance.

Why don’t we look to history to see if it’s true? Let’s just fucking test it. The cycle that is ending this year is known as the Bak’tun, which is approximately 394.3 years long. So, go to Dec 12, 2012, subtract 394.3 years, and see if any civilization-changing event happened. Subtract another 394.3, and see if another civilization-changing event happened. I’d say that if we do that about 3 or 4 times, and each time a real major game-changer happened, it’s more than coincidence. If, on the other hand, we don’t find that ever 394.3 years in history, humanity dramatically changed, then it would only be sane to reject the hypothesis.

Well the idea would be that it does, but we’re unable to see it from our present perspective; and that after the apocalypse it will be clear how and why this is the case, etc.

It’s as simple as their consciousness operating from a paradigm that allowed them to see things we cannot. You lack imagination, is all.

I don’t find anything particularly significant about the date (apart from its inherent significance of it being the date in question), I find the global human circumstance surrounding the date indicative of a paradigm shift. And I do not find it “sane” to “accept the hypothesis,” I should be clear. 12/21/2012 will come and pass like any other day in history.

The crux of my initial post was the phrase where it becomes interesting, that there are perspectives from which the 2012 stuff intermingles with potential realities consistent with the picture of reality as I’ve currently composed it. That is, I don’t find much of anything “impossible” right now. And admit it, if you die on 12/21/2012, or if science discovers empirical proof that the soul survives bodily death on that day, it will be the mindfuck of mindfucks. I’m just saying anything’s possible, and that considering it possible is fun and interesting, particularly in the context of humanity potentially evolving into a new species during our lifetimes; I’m not arguing the “truth” of the matter per se.

My imagination is fine, I just don’t mistake my imagination for plausible reality.

“Plausible reality” as indistinct from “the future” is just one big pile of possibility limited only by your imagination.

… would be more my motto.

If you have to appeal to someone’s imagination to get your idea across, and not their reason, chances are your idea doesn’t have much to do with reality.

FJ,

That’s a big no.

Daybreak is right.

Ok this is madness.

Put yourselves in the shoes of the Mayans, what (other than simply having existed thousands of years before us) do you have that can help you guess something like “something fucked up is going down on 2012?”

Just telling me he’s right isn’t any more convincing than telling me I need to work on my imagination.

Right now, you guys just sound to me like that fat guy from south park who says, “Just because it’s imaginary, doesn’t mean it isn’t real!”

I don’t know but when I look out my window in the morning I witness the impending force of a giant banana ready to strike the planet at any moment. Aura perception is the most important.

I feel like my time here is an imprisonment in a zoo.

Utilizing 1% of my faculties.

The Satanic Id is all around.

I hope something happens.

I hate this place.

Well shit…

My neighbour’s a professor of archaeology, a specialist in Mayan culture. There’s no end of the world in 2012, just the start of a new counting cycle. Like we had in 1999/2000. It’s party time. That’s all.

Bunk I say.

That’s not an argument.

America is not a continent, North and South America are.

Anal Mccloony signing out.

He’s an idiot we all gonna die, face facts the Mayans simply spent all their time predicting the future 2000 or so years from them, and they pegged it. If you disagree who cares you’re dead anyway. Fool.

No it’s not, but speculation isn’t evidence either.

Lucid point :stuck_out_tongue:

So, why assume she’s a he?

Don’t worry.

She’s coming, I know your eyes are wide shut.

I usually put she/he but I was being lazy that day.
