Must disagree, I went to see it yesterday (sans very disappointed 6 year old son) and sat there in a state of pure wowness for the whole 2 hours or so.
Incredible pacing and mind-boggling effects more than make up for the classic buddy/coming of age movie feel. (the buddy is optimus prime btw.).
Another big-screener. Take your migraine-pills, it’s a head spinner.
Tbh, for a movie about giant robots they really do very little with them in the movie.
I mean yes, there are impressive special effects sequences with them and other stuff, but they don’t do anything that feels different or unique with them in the movie. They’re just big humans who tend not to die.
That said, I enjoyed it, good popcorn action movie.
A friend who watched this botch asked why they didn’t hand out recruitment forms from the US army

Is it really that bad? I didn’t see the original transformers. I believe that the last movie I saw in theaters (My wife and I rent from OnDemand a lot) was probably The Island, which was damn good, by the way.

Let me just put it this way: I hated the original transformers. People said it was awesome, I impolitely chuckled to their faces and told them I’d rather watch a hippo give birth to twins. Girl was hot in a plasticky kind of way, that bumbling mumu who plays the lead talks way too much, big fucking robots trying to play HIDE AND SEEK on someone’s lawn.
ROBOTS PLAYING HIDE AND SEEK ON SOMEONE’S LAWN. I realize this isn’t supposed to be Schindler’s List, BUT ROBOTS PLAYING HIDE AND SEEK ON SOMEONE’S LAWN? How silly.
…now, those same people say they hate the sequel to a movie they so ardently defended.
