A federal judge in the District of Columbia temporarily blocked President Trump’s order to freeze as much as $3 trillion in federal grants and loans. The White House had said it was it was business as usual and no big deal.
The president’s order, which many people first learned about less than 24 hours ago, created widespread confusion. It interrupted the flow of money today to health researchers, programs for early childhood education and state offices for Medicaid, the program that provides health care to millions of low-income Americans.
Meanwhile Trump’s press secretary looked very telegenic and slightly amused.
Reporting from Washington
President Trump’s order to freeze trillions of dollars in federal grants and loans led to confusion and outrage on Tuesday as it interrupted the Medicaid system that provides health care to millions of low-income Americans and other programs that depend on the flow of federal money.
In California, Oregon, Illinois and other states, an online portal where state Medicaid departments receive federal funding stopped working hours after the memo was sent, according to state officials, though it was not clear that medical services to individuals had been interrupted. The portal, Payment Management Services, had a red banner on it Tuesday afternoon warning of delays because of “executive orders regarding potentially unallowable grant payments.”
Karoline Leavitt, the White House press secretary, said in a social media post Tuesday afternoon that the administration was “aware of the Medicaid website portal outage” and promised that it would be back online shortly. Officials with the budget office said the portal outage was unrelated to the president’s order despite the banner specifically citing Mr. Trump’s directives.
State officials said they were still providing benefits to Medicaid patients and continuing to pay doctors and hospitals. But before the judge’s blocking of the order on Tuesday, officials said they were concerned that the portal might not be back up by the end of the week, because many states receive a large infusion of funds at the start of every month. Feb. 1 is Saturday.
Are they cutting off aid only from those who are wealthy? A simple yes or no will do.
Are they extending tax cuts only for those who are poor? A simple yes or no will do.
I heard they squashed the freeze on federal grants and what not.
It reminds me of someone who acts super crazy at the outset, so that they can get what they want that isn’t as super crazy. It’s a con.
.
It seems to me that the ‘freeze’ might be about scrutinising what those funds are being allocated on… it might be on unscrupulous or illegitimate or unauthorised things, like transgender surgeries on minors and other such contentious things.

My, you have become a real cynic in your latter years, Felix.
So, you’re saying that it didn’t occur to Herr Trump that while the funds were frozen people would be dying because they couldn’t get their health care? Perhaps’ since he is the sion of extraordinary privilege his entire life that’s true. That’s the trouble have having a myopic absolute monarch not subject to the rule of law. Even if they wish, they can’t think of everything. Millions starved in China while Mao had his mind on other things. Will the trains run on time when the sole mission of the federal bureaucracy is to carry out the furor’s wishes? It’s kinda looking like the Trump administration doesn’t have their shit together. Will it be better or worse if and when they do? For whom?

Keep reaching, won’tcha.

Jealous, at what the new Administration has achieved in only their first month?
.
Four years and Biden’s Administration couldn’t find any of the missing children.
Four years and Biden’s Administration didn’t clean up the food chain.
Four years and Biden’s Administration did nothing to help the struggling tax-paying underclass make ends meet.
…and more to come.
The federal government is bloated and wasteful beyond knowing. We need to freeze non-critical funding until an analysis can be done to determine what amount of funding is actually needed.
Honestly whenever the federal government shuts down most people don’t even notice. I sure didn’t.
We should also allow taxpayers to designate, to some degree, where their tax moneys will be spent. Or at least have the ability to make sure their tax money isn’t being spent on things they disagree with. This would make the government far more accountable to the people. “Mr. President, it looks like 75% of the taxpayers are refusing to allow their taxes to fund the war… I think we should consider backing down and finding a peaceful solution instead.” Something like that.
It’s neither here nor there because we’re all going to die anyways because sex for most men is a need and they have to act out to get it which causes the no means yes problem.
Trump cough
I can handle the damage in my soul.
Women have a need for sex too. They’re just looking for protectors in a sex dimorphic species…. Men who make them initially uncomfortable so that it’s known that men can make other men uncomfortable.
Who’s more guilty for the destruction of earth?
Both.
Guard your souls.
I’d love to have sex again. So I went out of my way to make a new plan for existence.
Women do tend to be attracted to “bad boys” because of the protection issue, as you said. There is a sense in which women want a man who can be violent toward the outside, away from her and their family, but kind and non-violent toward her and their family. This makes perfect sense.
Other women, millennials especially, seem attracted to weak men who cannot do any violence of any kind. The mere hint of violence, even directed outwardly, terrifies them. These are liberal women who have been raised to think the society and government are their great caretakers and the whole world should be 100% non-violent 100% of the time.
The declining rates of reproduction and even biological fertility is a predictable side-effect of modernization, industrial society, wealth and advanced technology. The more societies move in that direction the less people have sex and make babies, or want to take care of the babies they do make. Families stop being a thing as everyone is compartmentalized inside their own unique technological bubble of endless pleasure and novelty. People don’t really need each other anymore. We aren’t quite there yet but we are getting there.
There are all sorts of females in the world, you can find someone if you bother to look AND bother to improve yourself. You seem to neglect the fact that a woman needs to find you attractive, which is partly on you. Are you fat? Are you ugly? Are you poor, slovenly, smelly, lazy? I don’t know you but I do notice on this forum you whine and complain a lot and you have an external locus of control, always blaming others and never yourself.
These characteristics of yours may be contributing to women not wanting to be with you.

Your comparison is a good one. Trump is the wannabe monarch, the whimsical tyrant, and the “Emperor” in New Clothes (Kejserens nye klæder).
According to a documentmade public by Politico, House Republicans are considering federal deficit reductions of $5.5 trillion, which includes $2.3 trillion cuts in Medicaid, $2.7 trillion cuts in other spending, and $0.5 trillion in new tax revenues.
.
That’s because most of those trillions were being spent on bs programmes and initiatives.
There is no question that health care in America is overpriced. But Medicaid is the only source of payment for millions of poor and disabled Americans including children without which they will suffer and die untreated.
