I thought it was very interesting; however, I don’t consider sending robots to the far reaches of a galaxy “colonizing.” But maybe I’m nitpicking.
I wonder if a type 3 civilization would have the technology to utilize wormholes and warp space time.
sorry gaia, but it´s not very interesting.
not very interesting! pssh…obviously never liked star trek
actually i’m quite concerned about his view of a type 1 culture, hollywood movies and blue jeans argh!!!
Well I’m so profoundly insulted that you would develop your own separate interests, that I shall summon the interest police upon thee to smite thee with thy rod against all those disinterested . . . whom are of course evil-doers.
it’s not that…I was interested when I read the thread title, and your invitation to a discussion. But how fun or interesting can it be to discuss future realities that have already been portrayed (at least similarly) in movies, and tv-shows : / Why don’t you start
The idea isn’t too original. I’m mostly interested in whether it’s a fair assumption to classify ourselves as a “type 0” on the virge of a “type 1” and its implications . . . as well as the possibility of successful, and stealthy “type 1s” out there. “Type 3” would probably be too far beyond us (“god-like”) to really be comprehended by us at all, even if they partially wanted.
My initial question is whether Dr. Kaku has given us a valuable classification system that can be graphed onto our conventional ontology, or whether he’s just babbling out of imagination and shouldn’t be taken so seriously.
The discussion has a fairly narrow direction, which might lead to more conclusion than imagination.
