Or will be, in a little less than 60 days. HA! When it rains in pours, doesn’t it? Yes indeed, yes indeed. At the very least, this comes at a time when I have very little reason to live where I’m living anymore.
Move to Turkey !!!
I can get you a job lifting heavy things for a man named Abdul.
I need work too
Can’t move to turkey though…
Yes you can !!! Run into the nearest Turkish Embassy and plead for asylum.
Lifting heavy things!?! I’m a pink-handed intellectual. I’ll do that sort of thing locally, if it comes to that.
Nonono - This is the beauty of working abroad… You can work and be on holiday at the same time…!
Bollocks. That’s just to lure you…

Shhh!!! You have no idea how much money I owe the black-market organ dealers LA…
I know I know.

Ucc,
Just remember, being one place is just another way of not being some place else. Think about the places you haven’t been because of where you are. There is an answer in there some place…
Oh, and DO NOT go to Turkey! There is no bacon, no ham, no pork chops. Tab is just looking for someone to share his misery…
Thanks for saving me a fate worse than death, tentative. I never would have thought of that, until it was too late!
And yeah, I know there’s perks to having to look for a job. It just seems like everything is coming all at once right now.
You have to watch out for Tab. He’s even sneakier than I am, and that’s bad enough…
Why are you losing your job in a lil’ under 60 days?
Is the company shutting down?
-Thirst
My department is shutting down, and the company has already made it clear “No severance package, and you best start looking for work elsewhere, because we’re under no illusion that we can absorb you guys into other positions.” Contract negotiations from a buy-out.
is this related to the scary california lay-off power Arnold put in? or is Maine in cali? cuz i read peter kropotkin’s thread about his lay-off.
also,i hope you are covered by (un)employment insurance.
and, what was that department/job?(if it’s any of my business)

K: My situation was different. I am leaving my job due to a
a injury situation that prevents me from doing my current job.
I am being hosed because “Arnold” is in business back pocket,
and is simply dumping legitimate business cost on to the state.
The wal-mart way. Fail your employees and dump the cost on the
state.

In answer to your other question., yes, Maine is in California.
You’re a bright and employable young man. You should land on your feet easily. Although I don’t know how the job market is where you live…
Being out of work has never really stressed me out. I do really well in interviews, and I have a strong family to help me out if things get ugly. It’s just the timing of it this time that really pissed me off- I was finally going to start taking classes this fall, after putting it off for a decade or so, and I’m trying to get enough money put together to get my own place.
i’ll put you up man
