In both 2000 and 2004, all but the most ignorant or ideologically-driven of Bush supporters knew they were supporting a man of very questionable qualifications. The state he’s gotten the country in and his record of poor judgment spell of the fact that this man had no business running for elective office. See my post in the Social Science subforum under “Bush Doesn’t Care About Americans”.
If you’re one of those who helped inflict this bumbling fool on the world, here’s your chance to confess and apologize. Not to me, but to those you’ve helped hurt, not to mention those who take pride in their country and its global reputation.
I’d much rather talk about how the Popper quotation you have in your sig is absolutely and completely ridiculous as a political/ethical principle.
Slagging off Bush is child’s play. Much more interesting to treat him as a worthy target and criticise him properly. Sadly, a great many people (and by no means just Americans) think that calling him ‘Bush lite’ and ‘the Devil’ makes them better than him…
The pain may be over quicker than was expected, new revelations in the wire tapping fiasco have shown just how egregiously Bush violated warrant law. If there is one thing that deserves Impeachment, it is a President who tries to undercut our civil liberties. My Brothers and Sisters in Congress have an Obligation to impeach this man, lets hope they live up to it.
Make amends, write your representative urging him to do what is his obligation.
The reaons why this thread is so short is because Bush was reelected by the biggest margin of votes in history. And no one is sorry except the terrorists.
Those numbers are fabricated by the liberal media. Clinton is the one who got impeached for his deplorable lies and adultery, both blatantly done in defiance of 2 of the 10 commandments. Bush is a crusader. He can do no wrong.
So getting a blow job whilst adulterating is worse than wreaking chaos on tens of thousands of people and soliciting torture? Shame, Mr. Kitten, shame.
Bush didn’t make a law respecting an establishment of religion, so I think you’re constitutional claim is flawed.
To be the leader of the American people and thus he who should embody our values to the utmost, yes, it is worse to break two commandments than it is to kill a bunch of foreigners who threaten us.The question you have to ask yourself is this:
Which is more important to you, humanitarianism? Or being an American?
Somebody breaking two commandments has to do with religion (church), and yet you’re saying that it’s interfering with Clinton’s term status (state). They shouldn’t be combined.
“Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press, or of the right of the people to peacefully assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.”
Can you tell me how Bush violated this? I must be confused or something.
I never said Bush violated this. I said that it was idiotic to use the ten commandments as an arbiter of whether or not a president should or shouldn’t be impeached, and this belief is best exemplified in the use of the words “church and state” given the popular meaning so commonly understood these days.
I’m so bored with the fact that it’s become so trendy to bash the president that you almost can’t escape the robots who run around spewing rhetoric. Bush has done alot more than people give him credit for. Everyone complains about gas prices, and about war and about healthcare and about how he’s not a gifted public speaker. The fact is that groups of people in the world who’s fundamental values include the destruction of our entire intellectual way of life are more afraid of him being in control of our military than they would be if it were someone else. It’s easy to just regurgitate nonsense from the news, or look up stories on the internet written by people with political motives. I’m wondering why more people don’t have the insight to recognize the value of his actions. Remember, if we want to live in a society where we can sit around and ponder philosophy all day on high speed internet connections and for the most part just consume the exports of other countries, we’re going to have to deprive some of the world’s people of their resources and probably take alot of lives in the process. Don’t pretend like he’s not acting in your interest so that you can seem politically correct and like you’re some sort of humanitarian. You’ll be reaping the spoils of this war before you know it.
Besides that, it’s Clinton’s fault anyway that the terrorists had 8 years to come up with that master plan. They probablyt haven’t been getting as much done in the last six. I mean, what with the bombs dropping and the machine gun fire all around.
I wonder, what is “warrant law”? I am somewhat familiar with warrants and also a large portion of the law here in the US, but must confess ignorance as to what “warrant law” constitutes.
And along those lines, I find it difficult for someone to have egregiously violated something that doesn’t really exist in any legal context. I’m sure you meant 4th amendment law or something similar; I just find it odd that you want someone crucified for violations of something you made up.
Also, I imagine you believe that Lincoln should have been impeached – for no US President has gone farther in undercutting civil liberties than did Honest Abe. Habeas Corpus is not just a good idea. it’s one of those important principles. But he saved the Union, didn’t he? Time told the tale on that one. For good or bad, we sit here because Abe robbed our ancestors of their civil liberties – even though his power to do so was not necessarily constitutional. Interesting turn of events. Those who are ignorant of history…
