waist/hip ratio; factor in mental development of offspring?

“Omega-3 fatty acids are a limiting factor in building brains, and are stored in a woman’s hips and thighs. New evidence shows a relationship between a woman’s stores of these essential fatty acids and her cognitive ability and that of her offspring”

Seems likely enough, old evolutionary psychology, pumping out the anwsers to life’s mysteries. Lets discuss; how strong is the evidence, thoughts, etc. (if anyone is interested)

i’m inclined to believe that the prettier a woman is the less she has to think…

as a result of this i conclude that any statistical analysis has the potential for be innacurate.

show me how the neuro whatevers get from her ass to her brain…

I’m not sure how to explain the biology of how the women’s body’s take their fat stores and use it for development of a baby, i’m pretty sure I couldn’t explain anything about how a pregnancy goes down without getting pretty technical about it. Like are you asking me how the mother biochemically gives her baby the fatty acids, or whether fatty acids are linked to proper brain health.

One easy anwser is that after the baby is born its in the breast milk, but they still get the acids when in the womb too. Another easy anwser is that its probably pretty similiar via umbilical cord, like they get most nutrition.

I don’t think thats being suggested, whats being suggested is that people with higher fattyacids have this look, not that its transffered from there.

i realise that the baby eats what the mother gives it, but generalising about upper and lower body fat seems a stretch unjustified.

has the link between fatty acid and fatty acid been proven statistically or scientifically…

i’m inclined to think that generally women are supposed to have more lower body fat than upper. (real woomen have curves)

so an exhibition of these signs merely means that she has “good genes” more symmetrical and what not…

it also follows her brain would be “better” too.

The link between fatty acid and proper brain development has been fairly conclusive.

The link between women with this hip ratio and high levels of fatty acids has been fairly strong.
The link between mothers with this ratio and the link between their children having better then average cognitive abilities, is fairly strong.

Scientifically the studies have been done (that link there talks on and on about it) Thats why the suggestion has been made, because they found the link to be so strong statistically. I wouldn’t even have brought it here otherwise.

i blame drugs for the recent fragility of the human race…

dose yourself with enough tylenol and you’ll develop a permanent headache…

just like that we have over medicated ourselves…

superbugs develop in our hospitals…

natural selection has left the weak to populate…

all this medication creates an ever increasing dependancy… and it’s out pacing our advancement with which to combat it.

infant death rates seem to reflect this.

Better then what a bad enough headache does to you, which is miniture brain damage.

We can’t compare death rates before antibiotics until now. It wouldn’t make sense. It doesn’t matter how many super bugs exist, more people die if no antibiotics existed period. Yes medicaiton is over-used, but its not this end of humanity problem.

Theres a good chance not, evolution/natural selection still happen and apparently pretty fast.

Infant death rates are higher where theres no medication. Go ahead and check.

i did say it was an end of humanity problem im just saying that a backlash resulting from drugs has probably had an impact on baby health…

ya whoever screws the most wins…

like i said… the problem is at a slow crawl but will eventually, without significant advancement in the medical feild, return the mortality rate beyond what it was before…

and i didn’t say medicine was bad… i said too much of it was…

Yeah, I don’t really know where you’ve been the last… 100 years. But scientific advancement, medical advancement specifically is mind-blowing. Medical advancement is so fast, that if any of us, the most brilliant scientists included tried to predict what it would be like in 30 years, trust me, we’d all FUCKING FAIL and badly.

Medical treatment is advancing faster then viruses/bacteria are so far. Though, that could change unless it does in the next 20 years, we’re going to be set.
