I’m looking to pay for short and long written articles, such as newspaper/magazine style written copy, on two subjects:
England and English culture - You have knowledge of English traditions/customs, or want to write opinion pieces on English society (must be positive, or, constructively critical!). Please note: England/English and not Britain/British!
SE Asia - Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, etc. Maybe you have travelled here, or have lived in the region, etc.
I will pay you for the rights to your content and they will be published online through various websites. I am looking for small pieces, from about 400 words up. Obviously you should have perfect command of written English and you must write original content (which will be checked against the 'net, so please don’t waste your time by copying from websites/magazines!)

Well the need for a positive spin on the English culture articles are in place because the website that content will be published on has that requirement.
Money depends on length and topic, for example I will pay more for an article on personal experiences with Hmong hill tribes in Laos than I will for an article on Thai food. Contact me if you’re interested.
Listen OxfordBrookesWill, I have contacting experience with several ancient peoples in SE Asia, I tasted their traditional food myself and made numerous studies about their music (including their musical instrument, one of which I even learnt to play).
Sounds interesting Uniqor, I think the going rate for a 500 word article is going to be in the region of 15 - 20 dollars*. If its spectacularly original such as your musical intsrument thing might be, I might consider more (max of 24 USD I would guess).
I suppose you won’t get rich out of it. I too have heard of writers making more but thats usually for print, and not website, publishing.
*I managed to find a qualified journalist (yea, not necessarily a good thing I know…) writing freelance to do some at 12 dollars per 500 words.
Seriously I don’t think that I’m qualified, I don’t deserve the money - won’t get it in the first place anyway. Say you are located in Oxford, should you having trouble finding men for such a project? The instrument I mentioned is called fengyao by the chinese, takef by the local, it’s a egg shaped china made areaophone, with five holes around the middle part of its body. It’s incredably easy to learn so I did. Its timber is akin to the chinese flute as well as the western flute, but of course less versatile, but has its own unique overtone that brings about a sound of breez as if blown through time right from ancient eras… find somebody else to write it for you, see what I mean?
