it’s time to wise-up
to the dumb-down
before we learn too late
what was lost
but sadly went
little missed
from the cradle got us
by the sweet-tooth do they
or maybe we’re too
anesthetized by
immediate gratification
to notice the insult to
what’s left of our
artificial intelligence
when we were too
preoccupied
w/ “reality†television
and other bright shiny objects
?where’s the surgeon general
when the coffee’s too hot¿
sting of sand
kicked in our eyes
no crueler lesson
to be taught
but nothin’ hurts
quite like the truth
though we can’t return
what was bought
to reclaim the wealth
that paid the cost
we may still have time
to write the book within
This is a lot more concise than the last one I read. Most of it makes sense too. I can’t see the purpose for “do they”, second stanza, second line. It seems to me the thought ended before those two words. Also IMO “Warning Label” is a sufficient title. Good.
Thaks for your feedback DEB. As to your implication that the thought ends before the two words sited, I must quote Nigel (Chritopher Guest) from Rob Reiner’s (AKA: All In The Family’s Meathead) cinematic classic This Is Spinal Tap --insert extended pause for dramatic effect-- “These go to eleven”
Thanks for your unsolicited vote on which of the dual titles I should go with which I’ve been whaffling on since I wrote ita few months ago. That’s one more notch for Warning Label’s belt that I’m now marking in the ledger. I’m actually kind of partial to the Siamese-title though, but I do concede that it might be viewed by some readers as clumsy indecisiveness. Hey, Queen’s twin short songs
and
are technically credited as one single dyptich-style track and radio stations often play them together as one song; so, you be the judge as to where there’s some relevent correlation there.
