Was Dr Who a reincarnation of JFK?

Kennedy was shot on 22 November, and the very next day the first episode of Dr Who was broadcast. Coincidence? After all, we know Dr Who can change his physical appearance. Just like James Bond.

Are you serious?

Or, as Robert Frost wrote in his “Dog” poem, are you Sirius?

Sothis is what it’s come to.

Well hell, the story of Dr. Who was around before Kennedy became president. The scripting takes a while as does filming… a coincidence? Yes and that is all… please tell me you are just kidding???

It was in production and planning for less than a year, I think, so not therefore before he became president, but certainly before he died (when it was broadcast they were still filming the later episodes of the first season).

It can be argued, however, that it was a kind of sequel to the Quatermass serials of the 50s, and is set in the same fictional universe.

As for me kidding, what do you think?

I think the original version of the theme music sounds much better.

The show was more fun before it got a big budget. It used to be about characters and philosophy. Now it’s all about special effects and an exaggerated sense of self-importance.

The old series finished before I was born, lol.

Right now the 50th anniversary series is running here. Every week there is a rerun of a different Doctor. I really liked Tom Baker. Jon Pertwee was my second favorite.
There was an attitude in the shows that cleverness counts… that cleverness will solve your problem, not muscle or violence.

I love aliens like this:

Which I guess you can’t see. Head is a green egg with one huge eye, body has multiple tentacles/arms with a green cape. Do you watch described video?

I don’t usually bother, but in the case of Dr Who it’s interesting that whereas a lot of the early episodes are missing, the soundtracks exist for all of them, which have now been released with extra descriptive commentary, often by some of the original actors.

That was seriously funny. Thanks Maia.

If you’ve ever watched Red Dwarf you should know that Kennedy actually shot himself to stop a future that was abhorrent to him.

Yeah I know what you mean, these days the Dr just comes up with something out of the blue and totally random that they explain away with nonsensical so called facts. Not that I dislike the modern Dr Who but it does lack for some credibility, the old Drs were at least not perfect and did not suddenly solve everything in the blink of an eye, they had to work harder than that.
