As the PM’s statements in this article pour honey into the readers’ mind, we feel compelled to think that he may be on to something… that America is needed. Heh, try telling that to the families of the colateral damage throughout the world. Theres no question he’s arse kissing as usual, but I was suprised to see that the PM has ‘launched a tirade against anti-Americanism’
if i could have a vote in all of the country’s we are in currently, and they voted for us to leave, i would gladdly leave. i don’t like our people being out there any more than they injoy us being there, but if the U.S. left the world to its own devises it would be a more fucked up place.
i don’t think the U.S. is some sort of angel, i think we are the oversized dumb kid on this playground of a planet, we try to help, and we can accasionally stop the bully from picking on the little kid, but at the same time we stick our big fingers in the way and trample over everything.
After WW2 the Americans were determined to fught Communism wherever they found it, now communism is no longer a viable threat they have to flex their superpower muscle elsewhere. So by being the police force of the world they can justify spending billions on their defence budget.
It’s true without American intervention then some areas of the world would be a far more dangerous place, however mistakes have been made (Vietnam) So they will continue to "keep the peace’ and until someone else comes along the world will have to put up with it.
What about China? What about North-Korea? …they are both communist countries that could pose a major threat on the world. America seemingly wont fight them.
North-Korea has too much power, it seems, and China has such juicy trade that boosts America’s and other countries’ economies greatly, but then, was communism ever a real threat - or was it simply the communist leaders who were a threat?
…by being the police force of the world? Under whose authority? Certainly not the UN’s. Look at Iraq; while I would have supported the invasion, the UN: the ‘global association of governments facilitating co-operation in international law, international security, economic development, and social equity’ did not. Does this make America a rogue state? Could the billions they spent on defense be put to better use? …Bah, useless questions I guess.
