There’s a British site that aims to neutralise the fear that radiates for months or years after a bombing.
The site owners claim that when the fear is removed, the main component of the bombing strategy “collapses like a house of cards” http://www.werenotafraid.com/
For those who are unaware, the most famous of these sites popped up after the re-election of GWB http://www.sorryeverybody.com/
Personally I am rather afraid. Living in Birmingham is not a safer bet than over there in London. Last week a sudden clear off of the city centre was a nasty experience. Now we’ve learnt that the killers were home bread muslims - that really gives people the reason to be afraid - I know that I could be hit at any time in any major cities in England. It’s really pathetic that it’s turned out to be this way, this tells me a lot about the so called “multi-culture” amd “harmony between communities” in the UK. Without a moment’s doubt that racist oriented behaviors are happening right now as I write. I’ve seen it myself, in London, Gloucester, Birmingham, York… Especially Birmigham, it has a large muslim polulation, as well as Indian, and that alone leads to social unrest. The Indians and Pakistanis mess with each other is a known fact, let alone the mess between the English and the rest. This is still very much a racist world, that’s the fundamental orientation of these bombings, not radical Islamism… why should they go radical if the Christians keep their peace with them? Jihad is a word that appeared roughly around the time of the 1st crusade. So wenever there is a crusade, there is a Jihad. As Iraq war being the latest major crusade, the London bombing being the latest major Jihad. Or should it be the mini-bus incident in Turkey a couple of days ago?
i am a man who walks alone
and when i’m walking a dark road
at night or strolling through the dark
and when the light begins to change
i sometimes feel a little strange
a little anxious when its dark

In South Africa, which is my home country, we are confronted with violence on a daily basis. Perhaps it’s the neighbours who live down the street whose whole family got murdered or a friend of a friend who was shot in the head because the killer wanted his car… If we buy into the fear then our lives are consumed by the walls we surround ourselves with. If I was afraid everytime I walked out my door in Johannesburg, I would never leave my house.
If we are all afraid, whoever is doing this has won. It is better that we find a way to overcome the fear, it is better to grow and become more aware, to listen to our hearts, there is our answer. There lies all the answers to all the questions that have ever been asked. It’s just that if we don’t force ourselves to move out of our comfort zone, we will never know the beauty that comes after the pain.
I don’t know so much. Whenever I’ve been in a situation where fear has crept into my heart, the only way I’ve come out on top is simply to face it. Facing the fear we learn there is no fear, not really. I guess there are levels. One time in a life threatening situation, I simply looked the guy in the eyes and with my whole being let him know I was not afraid of him. He left me alone. In that moment I learned about fear. This takes strength. We have to know who we are to move through such a situation. It’s not easy but it’s possible. There are so many levels here. Fear does NOT exist. What exists is the mind full of itself as usual. I’ve heard people say that fear is the opposite of love. I disagree. Love is love and fear is manufactured by the mind when it appears that we are threatened in some way or other. But what is it that truly threatens us?
I’m talking about not buying into the energy that fuels these things. Without our fear energy these things desist.
quality of being brave: the ability to face danger, difficulty, uncertainty, or pain without being overcome by fear or being deflected from a chosen course of action
This is a better idea.
This means that yes we are afraid, but so what, we’re coming to get you anyway!
