Well, cannabalism in some tribes is real … and we know that exacerbated fear is the motivator for many ancient tribal ways …
… And studies with mice have shown that when too many are placed in a cage, they go neurotic … and start eating each other, even if there is plenty of food.
Rats use their teeth as their weapon of choice … and then they just happen to swallow, I would imagine.
But we have nukes as weapons now instead of just knives and spears to thin out those we think are getting to close.
Though “eat” can be a metaphor, the results are just as deadly.
Certain tribes in Africa eat their dead or their enemies. The first is to keep their dead with them and the second is to steal power. Both of these actions are an attempt to master anxiety, so I think you have a point.
DorkyDood, I like you better with every post you make. We should try and determine if there are any issues on which we disagree, and what they are, and which of us (if either) is correct.
I think an interesting parallel to this point is the issue of voting. I similarly argue that not everyone should be able to vote, that one should have a certain level of intelligence and political awareness before you have the right to vote. Of course, like with this issue, the typical reaction is horror and outrage - “you can’t do that! you’re taking away people’s rights!” But the interesting thing about this issue is that, with voting, we’re already doing it. There is a test that you have to pass before you can vote in this country - the test is, “are you 18 or over?” We deny everyone under 18 the right to vote, and the only excusable reason can be because children are dumber and less aware than adults, on average. That’s a fine reason - yet we’ve all met 16 year olds who are more than qualified to vote, and 30 year olds who are not at all qualified to vote.
Yet intelligence and awareness are not the sole criteria - we also deny prisoners the right to vote, presumably because if we put them in jail for something, they can’t possibly have the best interests of society at heart. So we deny them the right to vote. Absolutely reasonable! We should be denying more people the right to vote based on the same principle, therefore.
those who live by the ends justifies the means. Thus limiting themselves to means that is as limited as their own intellect. Thus discovering ways that fit their origonal desires.
As for government controlling population growth. Probably not. How could you justify it? How can you single out traits that are worthey of the infanite possibilities. It’s more convienant to expose the problem and let the people decide on staralization and adoption.
