I consult with, and handle some of the day to day operations for a distribution company, and I help a friend of mine manage 13 franchised restaurants that he owns for a more than reasonable amount of pay. I love it. I get lots of free time, and get to take the credit for almost every good thing that happens.
I work at an investment firm. I’m supposed to be a support role for financial advisors, but they never utilize me, so I’m stuck surfing the web for 7-8 hours a day in a room upstairs, completely alone (my boss is in a different state).
It might sound like a sweet gig, but when the majority of websites are blocked, and you are stuck sitting at a desk for 7 - 8 hours a day twiddling your thumbs, even Chinese water torture seems like a better option.
I am a pre-law student who spends hours everyday prepping for the LSAT. One of my only fetishes (commodity fetishism) is knowledge and therefore I spend as much time as I can reading books or browsing the web, also I own no TV but have online sources to live news channels.
d00d, I had the same problem (well, okay, not really the boredom part so much as Internet usage being frowned upon). You need to make friends with your Tech support people; they can show you how to get around the firewall or give you a proxy server address to get to the sites you want.
I work in the admissions office of a moderately prestegious medical school. We’ve automated the admissions process a lot in the past couple years, so I have plenty of downtime.
My coworkers are cool, but my job satisfaction is essentially 0. My boss is lame. On the other hand, I can take classes through the university for free, so that keeps my spirits up. If you’re interested in getting an education on the cheap, I’d recommend a job at a university, they’re often fairly mundane, but the benefits are usually worth a few years of shit work.
I am an uneducated retarded Ironworker and I fart around, but don’t do much of value, and when I break I write, but lately, con the creators dot people opinion pages. And I think it is killing my blood pressure sitting around so much so I got to cut back…peece
Mostly FOH. Last tome (the other night) I got involved in the back, I had something of a physical altercation with a dishwasher. Then I had to do dishes (it was a sad farewell type of altercation). While that was fun, I try to keep the violence to a minimum. Staying in the front helps that.
