We all seem to want to win, but has anyone given us a definitive answer to what it means to win, and if we’re not told what our objective is how can anyone tell us things are going good?
How can we believe someone who tells us we’re closer to where we want to be when they can’t say where it is we’re trying to be?

Why do we need to be there in the first place? Sure, the way to win against a country is to assimilate theirs to yours, but the question is why. Why is obvious with Japan and Germany, but with Iraq I don’t see the motives. Less, they be, off course, world domination, and you’d need to start some place so why not Iraq. I’m all for that.

Seems to me the people of Iraq like who they are and have no desire to be like Germany or Japan.
So. in order for us to make them like Germany and Japan, we’ll have to kill them all until they decide to be like us.

I dunno, we managed to establish a reasonable degree of peace in Northern Ireland after a bombing campaign that lasted about 30 years, without just slaughtering them I mean. I’ll be the first to admit that the situations are vastly different and that the Ireland situation is exceptional rather than typical. But these things can work. I wouldn’t think they’d work in this (Militant Islam/Middle East) situation.
Because so many people like to think they live in peaceful democratic nations rather than aristocratic oligarchies, some of which are at war with each other. They’d like to think that because we elect our political leaders that somehow makes us less likely to wage warfare.

They seem pretty resilient. How many should we kill? You think half? How do we chose which ones to kill? Should we kill indiscriminately or should we kill certain ones? I think if you really want to scare them you should kill indiscriminately. That way they’ll never know who will be next.
