what does the meaning of baptism signifies?

why must jesus be baptise?

Is it in order to fulfill the prophecy, or is there something else?

This should be easy.

Jesus (I believe) was baptized to symbolize cleansing his human body, if that answers the question enough.

re-birth. re-mission. re-incarnation.

And resurrection. (freedom from death, after Christ was resurrected in the spiritual plane.)

Scythekian is correct. Christian baptism has more to do with death, burial and resurrection than it does with cleansing from sin. I assume that Jesus was baptized in order to show that death, burial, and resurrection are required for those who choose to follow him. Plus the practice also figuratively predicted his actual death burial and resurrection.

if baptism means having a new life. This means you have a new mind, a new way of thinking. It is alomst like you are taking an oath and be like Jesus.

But those who are baptise when they are babies, I find it hard to believe they are christlike, for they know nothing.

I just wonder what will happen if a buddist monk, or dalai lama became baptise?

Baptism really isn’t directly related to the resurection, although I can see the connection. Baptism represents a cleansing of original sin, and being “reborn” as a christian.

What high school did you (do you) go to Dan?
Who was your teacher?
Are you “special”?

-Thirst

Catholic baptisms do. Being baptized as a baby has to do with original sin, but being baptized as a young adult or adult has to do with all the sins in your present lifetime. I personally don’t agree with Catholic baptisms, because if you’re not making the choice to be baptized, I don’t see what good it does to have it forced upon you.

(philosophical response)

I went to high school full of retards, I came out not knowing whether I was one of them or not.

My teacher is my father.

It is you who says it. That I am special.

(practical response that you can understand )

I went to an catholic all boys school, while I was not a catholic ( non religious).
My teacher are those that I have read, studied with, work with, they are countless, I may even say you are one of my teacher.
I am not special, for if I was I would not be here.
