What I am...

I’m not aware of too many things
I know what I know, if you know what I mean
Philosophy is the talk on a cereal box
Religion is the smile on a dog
I’m not aware of too many things
I know what I know, if you know what I mean,
Choke me in the shallow waters
Before I get too deep
What I am is what I am
Are you what you are or what?
What I am is what I am
Are you what you are or
Oh, I’m not aware of too many things
I know what I know, if you know what I mean
Philosophy is a walk on the slippery rocks
Religion is a light in the fog
I’m not aware of too many things
I know what I know, if you know what I mean,
Choke me in the shallow water
Before I get too deep
What I am is what I am
Are you what you are or what?
What I am is what I am
Are you what you are or what?
What I am is what I am
Are you what you are or what?
What I am is what I am
Are you what you are or what you are and
What I am is what I am
Are you what you are or what?
Don’t let me get too deep
Don’t let me get too deep
Don’t let me get too deep
Don’t let me get too deep
Choke me in the shallow water
Before I get too deep
Choke me in the shallow water
Before I get too deep
Choke me in the shallow water
Before I get too deep
Choke me in the shallow water
Before I get too deep

-Edie Brickell-

What I am…

a confused guy
who always feels like giving up
but never does so
and just try to understand things
but never does so
and just try to see humanity and empathy around him
but never does so
who always try to be humble and worthy
but never is so
who always try to see a light shining through the darkest nights
but never does so

Thank you for answering my PM, Bess, I know what you are thinking right now, but I do hope you’ll give up this idea. We “belong” nowhere when we have trully human personalities, believe me. Best regards,

Fabiano.

No, I am fine. This song reflects my view on philosophy and this forum. But saying “drown me in the shallow water” does sound like a suicide note… and the repetition of the copied lyrics makes me look psychotic. I meant: I would rather leave this earth being mundane and kind than intelligent and mean.

One of my favorite quotes is:

A cynic is a man who, when he smells flowers, looks around for a coffin.
H. L. Mencken

I think the cynical people here should read this and think before they spew off their poison towards others. They should know how transparent their insecurities are to everyone here…

A good song, but probably one of the weakest on the album.

I agree, but I was going for the lyrics…

Are you sure those are the lyrics? Every time i heard the song i thought it went: “Pull me into shallow waters before I get too deep.”…“Philosophy is a walk on the slippery rocks religion – a smile on a dog.”

Yours cordially,
mrn

Yep, very true:

"Philosophy is the talk on a cereal box
Religion is the smile on a dog "

Hi my,

I googled the lyrics, so they are the words.
