What is human?

If you really think about it, what are we? How do we define ourselves? Can we really ever come to a consensus? Has their ever been a definition in which we all agree, theists and atheists?

We constantly try to separate ourselves from the “primitive” animal kingdom. We have a constant feeling of superiority over the other beings of this planet. Maybe that, in a nutshell, is a valid definition. We always try to define ourselves through that which we are not. If we have such a hard time trying to define what we are, isn’t that enough evidence right there to proove evolution? After all, we are just animals at heart. So maybe we really aren’t that different.

We can only define anything by that which we are not. Definitions are developed through language and signification. Which is inherently meaningless. So no luck there lol

I haven’t read anything substantial on Human nature persay. Besides the classics. But I would assume that foucault has some awesome things to say about it. I’m going to dig into his stuff fairly soon. Look at this link, its a fairly bad ass debate.

You might, I don’t.

By our actions, speaks louder than propaganda.

Reminds me of pop culture.

Watch for people in movies and tv shows who say things like:
“What ever it was, it wasn’t human…”
“He’s not even human!”
^ - non-human, in humane, etc. are all “insults”…

The word “human” itself – is only a string of sounds, and the meaning behind it, depends entirely on how that “word” is used, when, where, why, etc.

“Human” is a statement of ego, and morality. It is attached to behavior expectations. The word is used in conjunction with various forms of mind-control. And, for ‘humans’, “control” usually is complimented with a feeling of superiority. As the “ego” controls the body, it begins to believe that it is superior to the body, also, thus, in language, men say: “My body. My hand.” etc.
