What is that cause for human ignorance?

another words , What is the cause of your ignorance before you came to philosophy or religion and expecting a soloution?

or you can help me what do you think this poem means

Silent flute

I wish neither to posess
nor to be possed
I no longer covet paradis ,
but more importantly I no longer fear hell

The medince for my suffering I had within me in the beginning
but I did not take it
My alignment came within myself
but I did not observe it

Now I know that I may never find the light
Unless like a candle , a fuel consuming myself

tabula rasa

silent flute means don’t blow.

poor education; lack of discipline at a young age (in the cases which do requier to be disciplined); coming from bad families; having a terrible role model during adolescence… and so on.
It stuff like that that shape the adult mind.
When was the last time you saw a teenage boy or girl take as a role model a great scientist or philosopher… or anyone with intellectual accomplishments ?
Thats one of the problems; the educational system is going forward but TV is seriously dumming down teenagers.

ignorace is inate in all humans, knowledge is the removal of ignorance(knowledge takes time) or the acceptance of fact.

I agree with all of you

but something tells me what you said what are the causes of ignorance and some cure for it, would not work

Knowledge cannot cure ignorance,
banning t.v. cannot cure ignorance
taking up role models , well I don’t know, but I would like to hear more about this one.

dan dude
first i aint ignorant…
second philosphy came too me…/.
3rd religion is the cause for ignorance !!! of human ignorance
4th i dont expext a solution? i dont thnk anyone here does ? do you ?
that poem …like all poems .means somthing different too all
what do u get out of it … or doesnt it make any sense …it probably makes sense only to the one who wrote it …being a description of his thoughts and his feelings …sounds like he has …given up religion … gl

brother quantum

if religion is the cause of ignorance, then what is the cure? since you do not expect a solution, would you just those people who are religious remain ignorant?

If the meaning of poems are different for everyone, then the translators and the interpreter are wrong.

how so you are not ignorant if you say philosophy came to you?

Ignorance

-A term referring to an absence of gnosis.
Directly related to universal entropy as it exemplifies the lack which strives for self-fulfilment in a universe that knows no absolute and that would cease if it would.

Also a product of the inability to be completely aware of what you, yourself, are participating in. Making perspective the limitations of a consciousness involved in its own environment; affecting and being affected by what it seeks to fix with understanding.

-A term referring to the consequences of consciousness as it struggles to comprehend -abstract and order reality – what it separates itself from in order to achieve identity and the possibility of self-sufficiency.

very well defined definition of ignorace, now what is the the cause of ignorance?

"Directly related to universal entropy as it exemplifies the lack which strives for self-fulfilment in a universe that knows no absolute and that would cease if it would. "

Ignorance is part of the human condition.
The lacking in a universe of absence striving to compensate and correct this lack.

The word is usually used, as most value judgments are, as a comparison of degree.
One is more ignorant or less so than another or a perceived average. [/b]

 Ignorance is only tradition in disguise, born of locality, and memetic adaption to that locality. Ignorance is both physical and mental isolation.

The multitude is always ignorant - They have to be, just in case something goes wrong with the clever people. Ignorance is humanity’s lifeboat, and intelligence is sadly attracted to icebergs.

Castles built in the air are hard to live in.

Man, whatever, all I see is the human species’s natural instinct to fit in with & copy the group, no matter how stupid that group is.

Tradition is blind repetition.
Just look at the “Science” of the bible as an example. Nobody upgrades the damned thing, they just try to keep on copying the old ideas.

The mentality is like this:
“We gotta keep on doing what was done in the good-old-days!”
Very pastist nostalgia, as a reaction to problems in the present, one returns to the passed as an escape.

ignorance is blindly following a tradition, an ism,
family, church, and the state (for example) without question.

There are quite a few here who follow without question.
They don’t think for themselves, they simply regurgitated
what they have heard from their parents, teachers,
leaders and their isms. They hear talking points and repeat
them as if they are truths from heaven without actually knowing
or understanding if the talking points are even true.
Ignorance is following the faith, regardless of what the facts
are. Ignorance is mistaking the label for what the person is,
he is a communist, socialist, liberal, what have you.
Many here have called me a socialist. And yet, despite clear
statements to the contrary, they still insist on calling me
socialist, that is ignorance. they do not wish to go beyond
the labels. In fact they applaud themselves for their

"their very popular error: having the courage of one’s convictions:
rather it is a matter of having the courage for an attack on
one’s convictions!!!

My convictions having gone through the fire have reached
a certain point. I have twice before changed my political
views (convictions), and many times have changed my philosophical
views, (convictions). If new information arrives that means I must
change my political or philosophical views, I shall do so, as
I have done so before. Ignorance would be clinging to my views
no matter what facts or information comes before me.
Ignorance would be holding my present views as faith despite
the evidence before me. Ignorance is not changing with the times.
Ignorance is the faith of the priest.

I hold an honest seeker of the truth far higher then
one who claims to hold the truth, the priest.

Kropotkin

The cause is stupidity. We are all very stupid. If we weren’t also self centered and arrogant, we wouldn’t need to ask such a question.

Have you considered how long it took humanity to discover the wheel? Some isolated cultures never did. We, as individuals are incredibly dumb.

If we didn’t have elders to teach us much of what our culture achieved over millenia, wouldn’t we still be hunting with stones and sticks?

Ignorance is a self-inflicted and a self-sustaining wound.

I agree with brother dan \

I agree with yada

So what does this all have in common?

Ignorance in a defense mechanism used by the brain to keep the brain from actually thinking, which gives dumb brains a headache. A dumb brain either lives ignorantly or spends alot of time on Tylenol. Ignorance is much cheaper so there’s the real answer.

It requires no poem nor education nor serious thought. Apathy creates ignorance. Apathy is a defensive survival trait that more often backfires and goes awry then helps, because, if you are apathetic you tend procastinate on choices and decisions that cause stress or pain or even more horrible, work. Knowledge requires choices, decisions and work.

I think that the speaker of the poem has found a strength or light within himself. Apparently, the speaker was ignorant of this inner strength? I dont think this poem is necessarily about ignorance. Maybe it is about discovering oneself.
