What is the highest kind of intellect

What is the highest kind of intellect

Here’s some ingredients…

Logical ~ this then that
Holistic ~ worldly [includes common sense]
Fluid ~ sees all as a oneness

Mathematical
Poetic
artistic

Quick learn ~ could be less considered
Slow learn ~ could be more considered
Innate ~ thinks they already have the answers and/or means to find them

Broader categories;

Intellectual
Wise/Sage
genius

What would you add to the list, and what blend makes the greater thinker?

Intuition is by far the greatest kind of intellect because intuition is the foundation of all other intellectual pursuits .To build knowledge you have to start from an initial belief based on intuition.

Humor.

Isn’t this a bit like asking which tool is the best? Wouldn’t it depend on the context?

Not sure if you’d class imagination as a ‘kind of intellect’ but it’s a vital part in intellectual inquiry.

“Imagination is more important than knowledge” Albert

“Logic will get you from A to B. Imagination will take you everywhere.” Albert

I mostly agree, but isn’t intuition kind of like the brain acting as a computer, so it’s roughly the entire intellect apart from the present conscious experience ~ which is using it. it’s a very unspecific idea of mind and one which is changed perhaps by what other kind of intellects one may have.

Generally speaking there seems to be epicentres which denote [generally] what kind of intellect we have, genius, psychopath, mathematician etc. all of these would use the intuition differently.

Is an ability of many kinds of intellect more than an actual kind perhaps, but yes it shows an ability to strip things down to expose how ridiculous they may be.

I think that comes into it, but would you say that everyone has an equal intellect to you or anyone here, as I wouldn’t [xxx]? Or that people with common sense are equal to mathematicians and physicists or they to philosophers, poets to artists.

Good point, yes I’d definitely match imagination with an ability to expound it, as an or the higher intellect. As with intuition all intellects utilise it in different ways, perhaps some more than others.

Can we say that all brains have the same functionality/instrumentation, so they all have intuition and imagination, processing potential etc.

So intellect is the ability to utilise those tools effectively.

So the question becomes; are some kinds of utility greater than others e.g. genius, scientist, artisan.

I’d say there is a hierarchy even though we are still speaking relatively. Mostly it is based on originality of thought, then visualisation, then cognitive processing ability [like logical philosophy, math].

I’ll start with this…

Genius
philosopher
Artist
Mathematician
Biologist
Engineer
Artisan
.
One with common sense
.
idiot

.

I say intuition because I am minded of a Thomas Aquinas quote, “We can’t have full knowledge all at once. We must start by believing; then afterwards we may be led on to master the evidence for ourselves.” So initially we have to have a belief based on intuition, without that we can not build any knowledge, therefore intuition is the most important form of intellect.

So we need to flesh out as to what intuition means here. Originally I think intuition derived from earth [memory] and spirit, as perhaps Aquinas considered it?
I think that we could consider it to be neuronal knowledge rather than belief, there is nothing faith-like about that. Then as for the spirit, we could replace that with the experiencers ability to ‘know’ in a mirror-like fashion, or as a neuronal recording device.

Such things are probably the same in all of us, and we develop them as we grow. So intellect is something intellects use rather than are.

Off topic…

Yet I think there is more;

If mind is non-physical > then the ability to understand what the brain and senses deliver to the ‘mind’, is in that. If that grows with our intellect and over the course of many lifetimes, then some would have greater intuitive capacity/capability than others. Thus the ability to become more intelligence is exponential.

You had me convinced but now I think luck is the highest kind of intellect.

don’t we make our own luck?

More to the point we make our own intellects according to our desires, aptitude and active pursuits. The energy one puts in is surely equivalent to what we get back in return.

As to luck in that case, one could be the most unlucky adventurer and attain the higher intellect. I’d expect adversity to be an ally.

Perhaps we should ask; what can a computer do, then omit that.

…even the most advanced computers require programmers, and don’t have the plasticity of the mind.

Are comedians the highest art, is that ‘bardic’ [same category as poets artists actors] activity above other kinds of intellect. I think humour is up there; if one man makes a theory, then the man who mocks that is surely higher.

Hmm you could be right.

What of the man who intuit’s a reasoning the comedian is unable to penetrate?

Can we not say that besides such considerations, the most difficult thing is to compose the original philosophy or art? It is perhaps lesser to then be able to see its flaws?

No, not comedians. Comedians are artists, which are all professional distractors.

I see, yes. So humour at any level. First it needs subject matter! It needs the genius who creates the idea which the humour genius can then mock. Yet the original genius can then upgrade his hypothesis respectively. So the dance goes on.

Yes, all except for Doug Stanhope.

And maybe also George Carlin.

Like his take on the green issue, “overpopulation is the problem, you can drive an entire fleet of hummers to work before you even touch on what having one baby does to the environment”
Fuck in the back hole!

intuition is the best…but only after it has been harnessed, developed, nurtured, matured through years of both pure intellectual wisdom and practical knowledge of the world…at that point, intuition “in a flash” shows/tells us what is good for us and what is bad…

The highest intellect is held by those with highest notoriety of which luck is crucial.

Humor requires intuition.

Humor is the cap. Nothing is more complicated.
