What is the meaning of Law?

Is it not base on eliminating fear, promoting security, fairness and equality?

What is wrong with our government , that it produced many crimes, and has not yet reduce it, and criminals being set free, and condemning the innocent?

a rule or principle of proper conduct sanctioned by conscience, concepts of natural justice, or the will of a deity.

so what do i win>?

I am not asking for your interpretation of law, nor what is the definition of law. But what is the aim of law, which USA, have brought many criminals, and so many kids in a failed condition.

The purpose of the law is to protect society from those whose own moral compass may steer them wrongly or, in the rare case, has been completely demagnetized.

Ideally there would be no law, and there would be no government to enforce it. But we are humans, not ideals.

You are right Yopele,
But aren’t the USA gov’t is doing a poor job?

Our children, our elders, our people. The good thing about USA, is benefits and SSI. However, the bad things are , as you say moral values,
the people are turning out to be runts.

A primary “aim of law” is to prevent micro and regional conflicts, thus promoting stability, and most importantly: allowing for taxes and tithes to be collected. Mutatis Mutandis International Law. Moral meanings of Law may have been subsequently tacked-on as additional divine/social insentives (for example, when the Judges are Deified in the OT-- or inversely, Law is couched in or built on pre-existing human moral sentiments). It would be difficult to argue for Law existing prior to Civilization. Though proto-forms of Contract Law, Property Law and Family Law must have far anteceded Egypt or Hammurabi; and of course, “the eternal [moral] law of the Gods… no one knew from whence it came.” (Antigone 454-457) Law is “not base on eliminating fear, promoting security, fairness and equality” except in-so-far as these things aid tax collection; which often times they do. Rather, the over-riding “rule of Law” is to collect tax in the name of the authority who issued those laws. “Tax evasion is a crime in almost all countries…”

(Law also exists outside America.)

Dan1066,

You are now talking about laws - not the law. I think between Gorgias’ post and my own, most alternatives for the purpose of the law have been addressed.

Are you now wishing to switch focus?

I felt there is a problem, I do not know whether tha aim of law that was established or the government applying the law.

Whatever it is, the government is making my life miserable.

Law:- An activity associated with anal/orally retentive bastards.

The aim of Law is to force upon the population a will that is not otherwise supportable.
