What is the meaning of life?

What are we? Why do we live? What is life?

These questions have plauged humanity for milenia. What is the answer? well there are an infinite amount; a number greater than the stars in the night sky. I feel, i do not think, for that is what makes us human, and that is what will help us learn. There is no God, and if there is anything but this life, just put those ideas aside for now. The only thing to believe in; thats worth believing in, is the human mind, a contraption that surpasses our reality leaving us in awe at its power and impracticality.

So why not just die…if there is nothing to live for, no point in living, then why not just die?

The cynical and linear minded would say such a cruel thing to us, such an ignorant “end all” string of words, which is meant to answer any question of human society. Why will i not die? Why should i live on if money and posecsion are meaningless…if life and jobs and love are just humans trying to pass the time before we die…if there is no God to go to? This is why…because living makes me happy, and people make me happy. the relationships i share with humanity and its people can make me incredibly happy, or completely depressed. These feelings are what we as humans crave, the human nature which we all have hidden behind the walls that society errected in our minds…the wall which is almost impossible to break.

We love because we want to…we feel because we need to, and if we die…all this happiness will go to waste.

Now of course this seems quite opinionated, howvever i am not trying to be bold or to shoot down any other opinions so pleas…rail on me as much as you wish :stuck_out_tongue:

Stewie once said (baby from Family Guy who was really baked at the time) "Brian i think, i think that we dieeee, we die because … we accept it’s inevitability :astonished: "

My philosophy is based on the ‘fact’ that we are all made of matter, hydrogen coming from the big bang and the other elements from the embers of exploded stars / supernovae and we are thus part of the universe, the universe either was always here or came out of nothing (whether you’re religious or a scientist, it’s the same). Either way in the last 13 billion years what we see as the observable universe has evolved to produce us and through us the universe has become aware of itself. That’s as mind-boggling and awe inspiring as it gets. As for death, when we die we fall apart and the atoms blow in the wind and form new structures but the atoms remain and the universe is unchanged. All there is to do is wonder at the universe and appreciate the fact that we’re human, well off, technologically advanced and have time on our hands to sit and think, the vast majority of all life on the planet, of all human beings throughout all history has not been able to do this. As far as we know we’re the only life form in the whole universe that can contemplate itself and the universe as a whole, the difficulty for us is that in trying to understand things using our stone-age minds, callibrated by outdated instincts, the only tool we have is our mind itself. It’s like having a locked safe and the only tool you have to investigate it is the locked safe itself…

what are we? born/human/aware/mortal/knowledgable/ignorant/good/bad/succesful/failures
oh and eventually dead.

why do we live?because we fufill our bodies needs for air/food/water.
because we act on our minds beliefs.

what is life? that space between birth and death. the experiances in that space. the progression toward death.

vague questions get vague answers.

Outside of any “ultimate purpose,” there really is no reason that one should continue on living for any other reason than that they want to. I haven’t killed myself yet, because I enjoy living and for the most part the good outweighs the bad. There is no reason for me to end my life. I am not particularly worried about dying and would not care if it happened 10 minutes from now, because it is not as if the concept of death, or nonexistence scares me.

I don’t think that “living” can make one happy, because happiness can only come after experiencing life. For instance, it is not as if one can be happy or depressed before or after life. The second part of that sentence make more sense, because it seems reasonable that relationships can lend to happiness.

Human obviously

because we can and do exist. and because the desire to is strong.

a form of energy and existence that is beyond just fundamental reality, galaxies, stars etc. these do not or have the ability to think, we do.

define “contraption”

there is more to life than thought. there is experience.

work to live, rather than live to work. that is the key to me.

not to me. we love because of the enjoyment love can bring.

this happiness will not go waste on you or your partner, will it

God is the author all the scenes you feel between have really One aim is to choose to fall in love of Him as He saw it to say from all He felt love is the most clever being to make

he was wrong. god(s) will be our down fall. or our annihilation in the end.

I know He is to fear

to bad really. i mean really to bad #-o

like stalin, saddam etc.

life has a greater purpose, but we are too close to the painting

Human… well, most of us.

You know… to like… do stuff.

I’ll let you know after I die.

can something die if its not living? a dog can die< a fish can die, YADA YADA.
humans are alive and can die(mortal)as well as every animal. the ability to think has nothing to do with death. we have physiological needs like most animals. eat, shit, drink, piss, breathe. we also need an education period and also money to become self sufficiant. life is a series of fufilled physical needs and aspirations. our own aspirations are our primary source of motive. secondary sources are other people and changes in environment. i eat to live, i drink to live, i breath to live, my organs make use of these exterior substances(to be vague as im no biologist) my brain formulates a perception of my environment through the sense organs, assuming the 'outside world exists of course, the sensation i feel from interaction in my environment is a result of my body(and mind) reacting to its surroundings, percieving objects and their relation to my body(and mind) Only after experiance can i feel. it doesn’t matter what i think about death, the result of death(for humans) is the complete shut down of all organs. if my organs don’t work i die. what can go beyond fundamental reality? falsity/ imagination/ other animals also live, there just not on our level.

Wonderfully simple, OG. You got a smile out of me with this…

You are not aware of the real need feelings of been loved all religions aim to say it in depth but in a fake God because it is not the time yet of why as i see it is mostly a question of chosing not to be but in love truth

The purpose in any representation independent of corolary procrastinating fiery groins of tantalizing fluctuation between pointless vantagepoints of exercising your aim on clustering trilobites I would name her rock and roll.

are you making my feelings of truth funny words to enjoy the souls of fools?

I get dizzy without any punctuation…

it is disappointing to see how the reflection of truth in words become so boring and untrue
