Hopefully about drugs, because that’s what my manuscript is about.
I’ll offer a brief synopsis: From a first person perspective, a burned-out college student, intelligent but broken, writes about his experiences in university, and the past that led him to his troubled state: instead of easily moving through college he finds himself abusing drugs and wallowing in his own interiors to find something artistic and meaningful. A story about a burned out intellectual.
Forget people-in-general for a moment, would anyone here be interested in reading a novella about that? Not much drama, true, but definitely a psychological portrait that incorporates some major critical themes of the twentieth century, for example, Lacan, Freud and Barthes.
There’s a book called Why We Read What We Read that addresses this question. I’d also recommend it more generally; I thought it was great.
