Sanctimony, or what is conveyed in the phrase as “the stench of piety”. I’m pretty easy towards a lot of imperfection, knowing I have more than my share. But someone who exudes self-righteousness and puts himself on a pedestal brings out some of my not very nice qualities.
And, if you’ve read my signature quotes, I’m also intolerant of intolerance.
The ‘know it all attitude’ is looking down on people as though they are plebeians, unworthy of your knowledge. It’s basically being condescending and arrogant, which is even more annoying when the person actually doesn’t know what they are on about but are unwilling to admit this.
Tell me about it, Scott!! It’s tormenting to know you ooze the very qualities you just put your marker on! It’s not like I want to generous, intelligent and humble. It’s in my heredity, augmented by a stellar upbringing in choice settings that only a person like myself could do justice to. And word gets out, so it’s “Ric, what’s the answer to this?”, “Ric, can you cover my tab?”, “Ric, you’re so self-effacing. Do you always put others first?”, “Ric, how can my son grow up to be just like do?”
Scott, this sucks!!! I want to be a self-seeking, cocky, and more than just "intelligent – an omniscient sonofabitch! No more Mr Nice Guy. Hell, I don’t even use very foul language. I want to be coarse, offensive, boorish, stingy, mean, and ostentatiously obvious with my newly found omniscience, not this plebish mundane intelligence.
Help me pal. I suck!! I’m not posting my drivel in here until I hear from you.
Hypocrisy, like people claiming to be ‘intolerant of intolerance’ without realising it makes them just as bad as those they criticise.
Pretty obvious, really, that any claim to tolerance where the tolerance is not towards absolutely everything, is no different to saying ‘I like this, I don’t like that’. Either you’re with us, or…
I see. If one embraces tolerance, he should, so as not to fall into “someoneisatthephone’s” class of hypocrites, as I have, to my everlasting discredit and shame, be tolerant of any and every person, place or thing under “someoneisathtephone’s” green earth. That includes terorists, Nazis, and even Cretins like him. No, I’m tolerant, but not of weaklings who set out to try to embarrass me, thinking they’ve scored points, only to find they’ve embarrassed themselves. Again. Because this guy is the most feeble-minded flake in this forum. Peroid. This is the last notice I’m taking of his self-demeaning attempts at meaning…Damn but you’re stupid.
Note: If you’re brain-damaged or mongoloid, I apologise
What really gets to me is the hypocrite to himself; a hypocrite that has bought into his own bullshit, to a level where he cannot even conceive his own duplicity and the stupidity it produces.
It is intolerance that produces progress.
Man is intolerant towards nature’s ways and so attempts to overcome and control nature.
Is not man a part of nature?
Man is intolerant of his own limitations and so attempts to overcome them.
Man is intolerant of stupidity and hypocrisy and bullshit, and so attempts to shed light upon the piles of crap civilization is built on.
Man is intolerant of weakness and attempts to become strong; of his ignorance and attempts to know; of his meaninglessness and attempts to give meaning; of his incompleteness and attempts to become compete.
If there’s something worse than self-righteousness it is the hypocritically selfless and altruistic pretending he’s superior by playing the humility card; the weakling that posits his admittance of weakness as evidence of his power and his admittance of his own ignorance and stupidity as evidence of his wisdom.
Without intolerance man would be a gaping orifice awaiting the universe and the other to penetrate its chasm; a non descript automaton finding solace in multiplicity and the escape from the horrors of self-responsibility and freedom.
The very absurdity of trying to attain a moral highground, a social pedestal, by becoming the poster-child for cultural conformity; the intolerant of intolerance.
The ultimate hypocrite. The liar that believes his own lies; the unconscious bullshiter.
How easy we hate the racist, even while renouncing hatred, or we chastise and condemn the one that confronts our comfortable social ideals and feel-good, pseudo-philanthropic, cultural conformities.
I can deal with and even admire the conscious hypocrite because his duplicity is willful and a tactic for self-preservation, but the imbecile that achieves a self-righteous height by damning the self-righteous, and believing in his own mental farts, just really gets under my skin.
It raises stupidity into a tactic of survival.
The dumber you are the easier you conform to social and cultural ideals and the better hypocrite you are.
Tolerance: The characteristic of the feminized spirit.
Man surrendering to the power of the other.
Hasn’t man dominated by being intolerant of otherness?
Does not the sense of self depend on not tolerating the other?
Ric you’ve just got to stop thinking about other people as ends in and of themselves. Ever since some asshole said that people should be viewed as having more than instrumental value there’s been a wave of humanitarianism that’s fostered this sense that these values of giving and getting along and thinking things through are proper to provide us with a life we can feel good about. I’ve tried these virtues and see them to be but a method of oppression used by those who have the kind of life that I want. That’s an empirical fact. You’ve got the right idea Ric. No more Mr. Nice guy. I think Alice Cooper said it best.
This is trippy man.
Also, I hate sensitive people. Sometimes you need to make a point that’s bound to offend people. Why can’t these jackasses understand that?
I’d mark self-righteousness along with bravado and cowardace, but then these are traits I have come to loath in myself, and ones I can hardly claim to be exempt from.
I am not certin many others will make this claim of themselves. but The qualeties I distaste seem to be the ones I do not care for in myself. that being said no one is perfect.
