We don’t need no stinkin’ badges.

We don’t need no stinkin’ 35 character minimum for posts either.

agreed on both counts… a minimum character count is beyond
ridiculous… it severely reduces our ability to post… for sometimes
the answer is not long-winded bullshit, but a one or two word answer
is more than enough…

Aww, come on now, what child doesn’t like getting their gold stars from the schoolmarm?

In fact, just the “LIKE” category of badges alone could use a few more additions:

First, let’s look at the ones we can already receive (graciously provided by Google’s AI Assistant)…

Now here’s my suggestions for some additional badges to add to that list…

Anyway, that’s just a few suggestions for broadening the reasons for receiving badges in this forum.

Can any of you guys suggest more?

@Peter_Kropotkin

Amusingly enough, I wrote the second statement to get past the 35 character minimum after attempting to post only the first statement. But it did seem to be unnecessary. Even worse in my mind are the emoji. They add nothing to the discussion and I don’t know what 90+ percent of them are supposed to mean.

@seeds

Actually it was said half in jest. As a reference to a line from a film.

That said, you unwittingly pointed to the issue with badges which is that the are childish.

Fuck all the others, I’m going for Crazy in Love. I’m going round liking _everything_ today, even if it’s offensive or just shit.

What does 20 different times mean though? What other way is there to do it?

> [@seeds](#):
>
> **Second Try at First Like Badge** : Granted for attempting to like a post twice but wasn’t allowed.

But where does this end? You need to be careful, because with the current state of society, you might end up with a “30th try at..”, for inclusivity’s sake.

> [@seeds](#):

An unrecognised achievement, no doubt about it.

> [@seeds](#):

But I’m starting to think you sit there too much.

> [@seeds](#):

How would this be implemented? Now you’re just being silly.

> [@seeds](#):
>

Some of these are impossible, you know.

> [@seeds](#):
>
> **Faux Admiration Badge** : Granted when your wife gives you 5 insincere likes on your lovemaking technique.

Well I don’t have a wife anymore, but that would also not have been possible to achieve. 😏

> [@seeds](#):
>
> **Subjective Badge** : Granted for even thinking of liking a post.

I’m getting it for this one, but it’s still just a badge, the like hasn’t been made yet.

> [@seeds](#):
>
> **Out of Love 2.0 Badge** : Granted for using your daily limit of 50 likes in a single day in order to receive the **“Out of Love 2.0 Badge”** to feed your insatiable desire for more badges.

This goes against human nature.

I have a suggestion to close with:

**Indecisive Badge:** Granted for liking a post, unliking it again, and then finally deciding on liking it. This could actually be implemented in practice, some phone users would receive it by accident.

And it’s the gift that keeps on giving:

Granted to others 2 times.. they must have cheated 😡

Now I know what 20 different times means. I give up now.

Indeed, I do. And hey, how about giving me a badge for that?

And you, my friend, get a badge, not only for figuring out the entire purpose of my post (utter silliness),…

…but also, for half convincing me that you thought I was being serious.

Not in the realm of the absurd, which is where most of the forum’s actual badges came from. I think I remember someone receiving a badge **for replying to a post in an email.** And I think that that email badge (and of course this thread by WeSee) is what triggered my current ranting about badges.

However, the truth is that by me trying to interject a little light-hearted comedy into our conversations helps me to (momentarily) take my mind off of the deaths (murder) of little Iranian school girls and that of the impending World War that that **idiot** in the White House is instigating.

Good one, Niall, now that’s the spirit. And even though it’s not quite as silly as my suggestions it’s at least a start.

Well, I think my prior post fits that latter category, yet - YET - you didn’t give it like. What’s up with that? You’re never going to get that **“Crazy in Love”** badge by making false promises.

Meanwhile, I need some clicks on my **peace anthem** that I just uploaded to SoundCloud yesterday.

Here’s the link:

https://w.soundcloud.com/player/?visual=false&url=https%3A%2F%2Fapi.soundcloud.com%2Ftracks%2F2277383240&show_artwork=true&maxheight=166

All clicks (even those out of sheer pity) are welcome. 😜

A badge for bad habits? Is there a rate limit?

You can’t get out of this by pretending you were joking.

Yes, some people don’t deserve badges at all. Even an “I’m human” badge.

No, that would be your wife. She might not be as disappointed as you think.

I forgot to add: That badge can be randomly revoked at any time.

I know, but I’m still focused on the “thinking about it” badge.

It’s not really my kind of thing, but I’ll give a pity click no worries. Then I’ll give some more, I can recommend it to friends all over the VPN, I mean, world.
