Back then kids would learn biology or chemistry, and the limits were probably atomic structure.
Then 10 years later science from atoms limit became protons and neutrons, the 10 years who lived afterward, the kids have learned more then the last generation.
Then few years later, quantum physics was introduced, and protons were not the smallest thing but string theory.
When will science have a limit? Just now, pluto is not a planet no more. Back then we were told to have 9 planets now it is 8. The laws and their theories never remained the same. Is this alienation of learning. We were taught then we were to forget what we have taught.
I can’t help but to think when someone said that letters were invented to attain wisdom, and Socrates reply that it is not. It is a way of remembering, once you get to that forgetful age. So once you learn more through letters, you know much, but you will not know wisdom itself. Plato’s Phaedru.
==========
if by universal law you mean God’s laws, then his laws are immutable. Everything change. Truth change. What was true yesterday may not be true today and tomorrow is not true either because it’s not yet. Science is not the truth for it changes all the time. Mathematics may be true but have the scientists and mathematicians able to figure out the mathematics in building the great pyramids? if not then our numbers are not perfect.
