ok, we know that currently robots can build cars with pretty good precision not every company is doing that (toyota has a plant in america building cars with real people still) but it won’t be long before robots are doing that as well as sewing jeans, assembling shoes and building our “holo-cube” players.
What will you do when your job is replaced by a robot?
Well there must be a difference between the products of a robot and a human, obviously. Maybe this will endup as a rival race, in a manner that according to Darwin this will be our toughest challenge–an ‘animal’ that is equal, if not more than equal, to ourselves! But yet, there is something that a human possesses that no maching can possess. Maybe it’s God-given intellect, maybe it’s the multi-skills that one may have (although all you need are more robots), maybe it is the opportunity to entertain crowds by athletic competition? Robots can’t compete-they are programmed. The Rise and Falls of human intellect and competition thru athelticism are the moments we all grasp our breath to watch. Why? Unpredictability. Robots will be predictable, in every form or fashion.
I embrace the robot, and fear the computer. Robots have and will continue to make our lives a bit easier (unfortunately at the cost of human jobs), but will there come a day when the computer can replace the human mind? Creatively, mabye not. But logically it is within reason. I would’nt be surprised to find a robot pouring my coffee at Starbucks (or my beer at a local pub), but when a computer produces and plays it’s own hit song on the radio…then I will be afraid.
how long will it be before the robots are doing that? (repairing themselves?)
you could always build in planned obsolescence like manufacturers do today by not allowing you to replace the battery.
can we get a return? your replacement is defective.
it’s not like hit songs are good now, maybe the robot hit songs will be listenable.
Most humans are sheep and predictable, it is the sheep that will be in trouble and working some form of service job (like imps repair shop) until the robots are able to even replace those (like the starbucks job).
they’ll be the one’s revolting, we’ll be defending.
Robots and potentially, AI, will certainly change the landscape, but until robots can become bored, they will never be able to be as creative as a human.
Of course, should we ever develop the perfect “soma”, then perhaps we can become more “robotized” than we already are. At that point, the difference between ‘human’ and robot could be moot.
Follow up thought: It could be argued that the computer/robot is simply a lobotomized human at this point. All we need is more development of the silicon brain, or a universal chemical lobotomizing of the human brain and… Now that Scotty’s no longer with us, who beams us, and where?
we chemically lobotomize ourselves with aspartame.
so creativity comes from boredom? The AI can only create what it’s told to. So what tells the human to create? the environment? or is their something more?
It’s creativity that seperates us, from them and as long as we have that creative spark and they do not we will have something we can do while they take over mundania.
You could say that we are ahead of the rest of them as we are already excercising the creative part of our brains. (well some of us here anyhow.)
The real question after that, is can we program our creations to have creative sparks?
Will robots collect welfare? Liberal Hippies may be safe! Will robots masturbate online? Full-time ILP Philosophers (like AdlARYAN) may be safe.
Okay… more joking less venom:
Will robots give blow jobs? Prostitutes may be safe.
Will robots interpret the law? Lawyers/Judges may be safe.
Will robots create or practice medicine? Chemists/Doctors/Surgeons may be safe.
Will robots decide how to market other robots? Marketing/Advertising people may be safe.
Will robots commit crime? The Mafia may be safe.
Will robots make new food recipes? Restauranteurs and cooks may be safe.
Perhaps robots are a long, long way from replacing many of us… especially the educated.
HAHAHA THIS IS THE MOST REDICULOUS THING THAT I HAVE EVER HEARD.
THAT IS WHAT WE THINK, BUT REALLY, TECHNOLOGY IS MAKING OUR LIVES MORE STRESSFUL.
I MEAN, SERIOUSLY, BEFORE, PEOPLE WOULD DO THINGS MANUALLY, BUT THEY WOULD HAVE LESS STRESS (AND PHYSICAL WORK IS GOOD FOR THE BODY) NOW WE HAVE CREATED A WORLD OF DRONES THAT HAVE BECOME ATTACHED TO THEIR COMPUTERS. WE ARE THE SLAVES OF TECHNOLOGY, FOR WHEN YOU PRESS A BUTTON, THERE IS TOO MUCH MENTAL STRAIN AS APPOSED TO IF YOU DID EVERYTHING BY HAND.
HAVE YOU HAD A COMPUTER BREAK, OR A FILE DELETED AND YOU ALMOST KILLED YOURSELF?! IM PRETTY SURE YOU HAVE.
WE ARE FORMING A DEPENDANCY FOR TECHNOLOGY.
IMAGINE TOMMORROW YOUR PRECIOUS PHONE DISSAPEARING OR YOUR COMPUTER! WE WILL BE LOST! WE HAVE LOST OUR INDEPENDANCE, WE NEED THESE MACHINES TO DO EVERYTHING FOR US, BECAUSE WE CANNOT SURVIVE OTHERWISE!
GO SCREW YOURSELF, YOU PORNObsessed CONSERVATIVE SLUT! dusts off tye dye t-shirt and takes hit of joint
Porno-obsessed? Where did that come from? Though I am a conservative slut.
Don’t worry, the liberal hippies will find a way to give robots emancipation, get them voting rights, ensure that those robots are programmed to vote for CHELSEA CLINTON and throw flowers at those “crazy” republicans…
Gives liberal hippie begging for change the finger and drives off in BMW
LMAO! Too funny imp. great way to cheer up my otherwise crappy day.
this is good stuff as well:

the only ones that have to worry immediately are the ones doing menial tasks, dumping garbage into the truck, welding, etc. then they’ll slowly take over more complex tasks, driving the garbage truck, accounting your taxes, sucking your dick (instead of the prostitute.), etc.
Eventually all menial and logical tasks will be replaced with robots.
