Let’s say you had a chance to make up your own philosophy class.
The grade is not a factor, and you get to choose what you’ll study for a semester. You would be the only student.
What would you study?
What branch of philosophy would you focus on?
Any particular philosophers that you’d like to learn everything there is to know about?
Any school of thought or philosophical movement?
Any particular problem?
What would you do?
You smell
Are you saying that we have that in common? Being that you live in a van down by the river and all, you could also smell. Or did you mean that I smell nice? If that’s the case, sorry about the van comment.
can i just call you smear?
Call me whatever makes you happiest. Or the least unhappy. Smear is fine with me.
how bout twat?
You wouldn’t be the first. You could call me Twat Smear if you wanted. That’d be fine too. As long as it makes you happy. That’s all I care about.
do a lot of people call you twat because you are one?
Yes.
what exactly is a twat?
Ask me that in a pm and I’ll try to explain. I’m not sure if that’s appropriate subject matter for this thread. Also, I’ll need a copy of your ID.
consider it done
you could research the philosophic weight of twattiness as opposed to the philosophic implications of stoogedom, but I don’t think you’ll find much… you may wish to create a course which focuses on the creation of a hedonistic calculus as an ethical standard versus the creation of a golden mean… how each would be different… maybe… or you could just pick an author you like, a work which you haven’t read and take a course on that… make it something you like.

Isn’t that what Macintyre tries to do in “After Virtue”?
To get this back on track, let’s start over…
