Lets go back a century when 80% of childbirth resulted in death and when mothers constantly died trying to have them, ,when most children died before the age of 6 and the best kind of lifespan you could hope for was about 4 good decades, when people constantly died from lack of antibiotics or say kidney stones.
FUCK THAT.
and it doesn’t get any pretty and more idealistic in hunter-gatherer societies either, which I feel the needd to mention, incase joker starts ranting about a wilderness paradise.
If you’re a diabetic theres a million reasons to look forward to the future, the electronic pancreas being one of them. On top of dozens of medicines that are in production/currently in testing, the same is true for just about any disease. If you enjoy movies/video-games, the amount of progressive entertainment for people is insane, medical technology is increasing pretty much exponentially with better and better treatments for horrible diseases, drugs in testing right now that should revolutionize cancer treatments, perhaps cognitive decline in old age.
The list is fucking endless and only someone uneducated in pretty much every field of science, wouldn’t look forward to the future.
Not to mention the insane progress of every science that I even know of. Its an exciting time to be a human when 10 years of progress means more than what was acomplished in tens of thousands by the ancients, perhaps even become part of that progress by educating yourself and attempting to contribute to it?
Theres always going to be environmental idealists like you joker, and a good way to guess about their numbers is to count the increasing number of people eaten by bears attempting to camp in grizzly territory, having their legs amputated from getting them crushed by a boulder, getting trampled by standing to close to a moose, its a good way to count people like you.

Or, say, the increasing amount of people running of to places like alaska or the canadian artic to ‘prove’ themselves against the wilderness with little supplies and without years and years and years of hardcore survival training, and end up dying from starvation or eaten by a bear.
