What's the most important search you've ever embarked on ?

lol It must be extremely cold where you live, gib.

At this time of year in Canada? Oh, yeah.

That is a difficult question to answer and is it even capable of being answered. Take for example the answers of most of the posters of this question and compare them to a dying man, being asked the same question. He would most probably say none are important, but when faced with death he acknowledges the “importance/unimportance” of this existence. Does he mean we live fussing over trivialities, or refute what is the very basic and fundamental essence of our being. Is it necessary to ignore the fact that each of us, has ultimately the same journey, that is, we travel every day towards our demise, so we live accordingly in purposeful ignorance. May I presume at this point JSS, your question relates to this, why do we exist and for what purpose. Intelligence treats everything in a mechanical manner and explains in a rational manner, whereas instinct cannot be expressed in terms of intelligence, nor can it be analyzed. If the question of “importance” is approached from a purely scientific explanation, in terms of intelligence, it will construct an imitation of instinct rather than penetrating within it. How important is instinct a part of the question? Many of our actions could easily be referred to as instinctive, and done without conscious thought, which would disregard a conscious hierarchy of most or least “important” which many of us construct anyway, from a purely superficial standpoint of what is important and what is not. The question regarding “important” has many different aspects or features for every one of us, if we are asked separately. Is your question a search for an exclusive answer, that is applicable to all?

If it isn’t relevant to the currently living, it isn’t relevant to me. Although clearly one of the few, I sincerely hope that I am not the only living entity in the universe.

Indeed but my emphasis is on, “is your question a search for an exclusive answer”.

Would you care to answer this or perhaps you will answer your own question.

What does being important really mean?
… really.

to you.

I guess that I need clarification as to what you mean by “exclusive answer”.

To Me:
Being important is the property of;
“Clarifying, Verifying, Instilling, and Reinforcing the Perception of Hopes and Threats unto Anentropic Harmony”
…also known as SAM.

Everything else is unimportant.

And objectively that is also true for everyone else.
But since they don’t know it, they have other subjective opinions.

Adjective - Excluding or not admitting other things

I chose to use “exclusive” specifically, as I had the notion your philosophy on life would be similar to this.

I read your post on SAM and it seems it was an appropriate choice of word.

Although you advocate a caring and harmonious scenario, to me, it smacks of a New World Order on a less than universal scale.

It is the “New World Order” that comes after your “New World Order” (merely a larger empire).

The biggest difference being that the SAM order is not designed by Man nor does it manufacture death, disease, and misery. The “SAM Order” (or “Order of SAM” maybe) maintains constant, never ending focus on what is actually important in life, 100% of the time even though no one ever dictated what that is to be. It happens “naturally” (without human design).

That would be correct, Ben JS It would far deeper than the romantic. It created a difference within my whole life, created a hole within it.

There was this one time I managed to acquire extremely potent MM ( magic mushrooms ). This was when I was more into my philosophical monism phase, you know, the whole Alan Watts shebang. Anyways, I was looking to have some sort of life-altering experience, as I saw many testimonials online of people who took shrooms and had such experiences. I went into a forest, a very isolated forest. Nobody around for 5 miles in every direction, dead silent, borderline eery. I had my tent set up, so I could lay down and relax after consuming the mushrooms. I had about 5 grams of MM, downed it ( it tasted like something from a hamster cage ). After about 1 hour, I started to feel it coming on. It was very gradual and gentle. Time began to slow down and it seemed like the trees had a pulse. I looked up at the sky and saw some goddess figure descending. She was wearing a wavy garb and smiling at me, not in a creepy way, but amiably. I then saw a legion of Viking warrior gods clashing in the sky behind her. I felt the earth beginning to tremble, like a stampede of animals was approaching. I looked to the side and saw 20 elves, more or less, doing cart wheels and back flips. It looked like they were celebrating something, not sure what it was. I lost interest in them, as they seemed sort of aloof to my presence. I managed to walk around safely, exploring the wilderness. I heard the trees whispering to me, telling me of a nymph that was close by. I followed their directions and found her sitting on a small hill, chanting. She noticed me, smiled, but didn’t cease to chant. She motioned to me to accompany her in the chant of " eternity ". In the euphoric state I was in, I didn’t hesitate. We danced and chanted for about 15 minutes and then she disappeared into the forest. I walked back to my tent and laid down inside, feeling somewhat fatigued from the festive chanting. The sky goddess appeared again and spelt out in the sky " Love the Earth ". She vanished after that and my psychedelic experienced dissipated as well from that point.

Planning on doing this again in spring.
