What's the point?

Hi, JT. I was hoping to see you here. Well, smartass or no, I would say this is, more or less, essentially the point I think I am driving towards. Thanks for making it so well.

Stick around. I’m soon to start a thread on Religion about this whole eastern/western business.

Im sorry you feel im being rude, perhaps I was a little. But I find this thread is missing the point (no pun intended).
My post about quoting was directed at W.J. Wilczek, who I knew could take it. A lot of his posts on previous threads have been simply just quotes. IMO quoting famous scientists/philosophers is a lazy approach. But be it so, this is your thread. I guess ill just have to conform to your beliefs aswell.
Congratulations on a most interesting and original thread =D> .

Hi, angst-ridden. I think you missed what I was saying. This isn’t about conforming to the beliefs of anybody. ILP is not at all about that.

It seems to me that you had three ways to go on this. You saw the thread. At that point you could have decided to engage it in some way by advancing an argument or at least some thoughts on the matter at hand. Your second choice was to realize that maybe it wasn’t your cup of cha, and move on to some other thread. But you chose the third option which was to ridicule it.

I just find that a regrettable attitude and one that’s become all too common around here.

I gave my two cents earlier:

I was not intending to ridicule this thread and im sorry if you felt I did. I was merely pointing out that there was no discussion left, which obviously there isnt since the thread has been reduced to petty squabbling. Shame realy, tis an interesting topic.

Fair enough, angst. Thanks.

Jerry,

No worries. Your point is understood. And, personally, I agree.

Although …

I would have to agree with you here. For example …

From this paragraph the reader can easily get the idea that you are essentially asking “Why do we ask why?” I admit that I did fail to see your point of ‘meaningless meaning’ in your original post.
